British authorities foiled ink cartridge bomb plot

Information obtained using torture was used to help foil an al-Qaeda plot to bring down two planes, it has been claimed. British authorities intercepted a bomb at East Midlands Airport after being 'tipped off' by Saudi Arabian security forces, reportedly following the interrogation by torture of an al-Qaeda operative. The claim comes as former MI5 head Sir John Sawers said torture does produce 'useful information' and can be 'effective in the short term.'

Considering the state of mind..of the alleged head of state HERE....things might not hve ended so reasonably...had the target been American

Anyone who's seen Mythbusters know that even an amount of plastique explosive about the size of sugar cube can cause an enormous amount of damage. Put that much explosive next to the fuselage side and in a pressurized cabin, the resulting explosion could actually blow a hole in the fuselage not only from the explosion, but the air pressure differential.
