Yes, JFK emptied the mental hospitals with the last bill he signed in 1963, but the homeless, the bums, the drifters, the winos, have always existed, just in lessor numbers.

Even the Soviet Union could not keep homeless men from existing.

You’re posting a lot of nonsense. Some become police officers because it’s the best opportunity available to them.

Relax. Take a pill if needed. Leave me alone. Goodbye.

Police recruits ... Any policeman, does NOT want to take care of the mentally ill.

It’s demeaning. And it is not a job for a man with a gun.

I blame this on the City of Los Angeles.

A primary duty for police is handling the homeless, we know what we hire cops for, and they better know what they are asking to do when they try to persuade us to hire them for the work.

I do not agree.

It is like asking a nurse at the general hospital to also arresr crimals.

The jobs are not remotely the same.

LOL, it isn’t, it is like telling a nurse that she do what nurses have always had to do, and is a normal part of their routine duties.

Cops have never been above dealing with the men of the streets and alleys, it has always been part of what they are there for.

I obviously know that it used to be easier to commit someone, and keep them there, and have addressed it already.

I even worked in a mental hospital a decade after the JFK law was signed.

Will our homeless problem ever be solved, or is the problem with us forever? God help us.

this video does not show what happened with the man on the ground. Hopefully there is another video from another angle so we can clearly see what happened.

The cops need to talk to Malcolm X. He said he looks at cop shootings a lot differently now that he’s gone through “shoot or don’t shoot” training.

I still believe there are way too many trigger happy cops who just want to kill something. Way too many shootings happening compared to a few years ago. And definitely way too many dogs getting shot by cops. If you have a dog you’d better teach him to RESPECT THE COP’S AUTHORITY and, like the cop in Houston said “Don’t give me that constitutional bullshit.”

Everything you just said could be made up by the cops.

As for the guy grabbing a gun, something’s wrong when a bunch of cops show up and one of them loses his gun to a homeless person.

I’m constantly amazed though on FR people who post non-stop about the usurpation of our Constitutional rights never see the overreach by police as a threat. If those controlled by the Constitution can do no wrong, why do we need it?

Scary, huh?

Of course, the cops THINK he was grabbing a gun. What do you expect them to say?

You wouldn’t be a cop? Good for you. I question the sanity of anyone who wants to be a cop. And I don’t want insane people legally carrying guns and badges.

By the way, it’s not against the law to say “FU” to a cop. Cops THINK it is and will arrest you for saying it then you have to post bail and hire an attorney. So, your freedom of speech must be earned and paid for every time you say something a cop doesn’t like.

RESPECT HIS AUTHORITY!

That thin blue line is a very thick blue wall. And if the other cops believe their fellow cop over reacted they sure as hell won’t say anything about it. That’s one of the things I hate most about cops.

Homeless advocates should be forced to pay for housing these people. Since they won’t allow them to be institutionalized (as they should be). They advocates should be personally and financially responsible for them.
