Oh no, not another UNARMED black child on his way to pick up medicine for his sick mama shot by a racist white cop who didn’t realize that the child had just enrolled in the National Honor society after earning all state honors on his school’s chess team.....will it never end...
"...and his mama cries..."
No “Fruitvale Station” to be made from this murder, because a White cop wasn’t involved. So it will be quickly forgotten. No protests. No outrage. Just another Black life that doesn’t “matter”
The gang signs and flashing cash are a hint about what mattered to him, who his associates were and thus who probably killed him.
In this article, he is merely a 14 year old boy. Not black, not unarmed ... just a boy.
He looks a little older than 14.
Snitches get stitches!
The sign on the left looks like a “b” for Bloods and fits his red clothing. The sign on the right looks like something I just saw Marshawn Lynch flashing in a photo of him doing community outreach overseas. I think some of these pro guys try to get smart (like Lynch might be flashing a ML), or perhaps it is a neighborhood sign (Lynch is from Oakland) - but it all looks so stupid.
My son was going through that phase awhile ago flashing stupid signs for photos. He went on a church mission trip to California years ago - and I told him to knock it off - that might be enough to get killed for in some neighborhoods.
This happened not far at all from Bazbeaux Manor.
I did some checking on the kid. There are youtube vidoes of him in 2010 playing pee wee football. There are youtube videos of him in 2012 playing Jr. Midget football, and an article from 2014 in the Oakland Post about his team being Northern California champs. The videos were all made by his FATHER.
His father made a comment to the 2014 article about the championship team which exhibits as much decency, and ability to articulate as anyone who posts here, and more than some:
As the proud father of #9 (Davon Ellis) and the videographer for the Dynamites I must say its been a long journey but a great learning experience for everyone involved. I have become a better parent and have made friends through the organization that will remain close to me and my son forever!!!ODWHAT
The kid also played football as a Freshman and was hoping to transfer to a Catholic school to play there.
He was not from the neighborhood where he was killed. The news said he was approached by a stranger and asked if he knew someone, and he and his friends denied they did.
Supposedly a “person of interest” has been taken into custody. Now that a week has passed, he is otherwise forgotten. There’s simply nothing in the facts and circumstances for any “activist” to exploit.
