Given the current administration, I'd hazard a guess that the same sort of thing might be being contemplated - or actually a fact.

The French do the Saudi’s bidding in international forums and negotiations. Kerry may soon be astonished when the French, who are a party to the “P5+1” negotiations refuse to sign the final agreement. Also would not be surprised if the French “repositioned” a few dusty but still functional nuclear weapons on Saudi soil. The real problem is that the Saudis are not investing so heavily in France because they have solid faith in the survivability of their regime in Arabia. They know its only a matter of time before the destructive storms of the “Arab spring” enter Arabia.
If I thought for a second that Iran and SA having nukes meant they would wipe each other out - I’d rect a container ship and send them 5000 each.

Saudi arabia was given a pass in the commisssion of the 9/11 attacks.
Should they desire a nuclear weapon, then why not deliver one to them, for them to catch.
