Jeb Bush Fails CPAC, Can’t Even Stack Straw Poll Successfully

NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland — Republican voters rejected former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in the straw poll, as he earned only 8 percent of the vote and came in fifth.

That came as, according to reports and several other campaigns, Bush attempted to rig the straw poll by busing in “supporters” from Washington, D.C., and K Street. So, after subtracting out those his campaign packed into the Gaylord hotel in National Harbor, his support among conservatives is even more smaller than it appears.

Bush faced a round of ridicule from pretty much everyone across the Republican Party, ranging from MSNBC host Joe Scarborough to Sen. Jeff Sessions.

Scarborough told Breitbart News in an interview at CPAC that the GOP nominee in 2016 needs to be a conservative and be able to turn out the conservative base—something that Bush is clearly having issues with. He adds if that doesn’t happen, then the party will lose in the general election.

Sen. Sessions, who at a Breitbart News meet-and-greet rebutted Bush’s support for amnesty right after Bush’s appearance on stage, said that even with all the money Bush is raising he needs to be able to win votes—something Bush showed at CPAC he’s currently unable to do among the Conservative base.

“I’ll tell you one thing: It’s the people of this country that run this country,” Sessions said. “Contributions and supporters are always important in presidential elections and other elections too, but votes trumps money.”

“The biggest thing to come from CPAC this year is the overall weakness of Jeb Bush... He has no conservative, grassroots support.”

Not only does he not have support - he was the only one with active animosity. His name was booed - strongly- many times during the conference.

During his speech, many of those who most strongly oppose him walked out, or there might have been booing on his video clips. Instead, we hear the cheers of his astroturf.

The Texas primary is on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

That line bears repeating. If all these guys campaign hard till then, the public is going to be burned out. It gets worse every cycle. I'm almost sick of it already myself. There are already too many rallies, too many luncheons, too many sound bites. Someone make it stop. I'm beginning to see the benefits of the Canadian time-limited campaigns.

But it’s Jeb’s turn. That’s why Romney backed out. He had to be reminded that he’d already had his turn.

For years I’ve been told that the youngest Bush was the most Conservative of the 2 older Bushes. Either that was a lie or the two Bushes is so far left that Jeb look Conservative

Jen Bush is what he is, but additionally who in their right mind would cast a got for a THIRD Bush? Plus the name itself has been completely trashed by the media and entertainment industry.

***the soft-spoken, well-spoken, non-scary, non-threatening, teddy bear-ish Bush will be the big beneficiary of votes from the masses of low-information and center/left GOP voters***

Not to mention that he has multi millions - especially from big GOP donors... he can sit back - as you say sleepily - and let the USCofC etc. pour dinero upon him while the rest of the field struggles to compete for the remaining shekles. It was reported a short while back that it now takes $1 bil to run for Prez! Good grief! How much more corrupt can we get?! What chance does a populist have now?

Meantime the MSM promotes Jeb because they know he will bury the GOP field but hasn't got a prayer against their vicious Stalinist media scourging in the general election. Adios Prez cum USA; Holla Hildy / Lizzie ... ?

You clearly and concisely hit the nail on the head in your post, Bob.

(Why is it I keep visualizing non-stop nails being driven into a conservative GOP coffin....sigh).

However, though our work is clearly cut out for us, we shall prevail, the good Lord willing.

I'm in a good mood today....the Bibi has landed!

Great analysis. Thanks.

Dear God, please give us a conservative candidate to vote for in 2016.

>>When you feel you have to bring your own cheering squad .. you’ve already failed the test.

Possibly. But that doesn’t mean you can’t bribe the teacher to still get an A. Sad, but true.

Apparently, bussing in a cheering section is a time-honored tactic, that goes back at least as far as ancient Rome.

... and not just in politics. I have read that the Beatles had hired screaming teenage girls for most of their early US concerts, including Ed Sullivan, I believe.

People do it because it works. Apparently Romney hired blacks to applaud him. 0vomit clearly hired people to pretend to swoon so he could look both beloved and in charge when he pretended to handle the situation.

Speaking of the Bush clan I muse as to what the English throne and Saudi royalty might be thinking or/and planning.

The Polling Company’s Kellyanne Conway told the CPAC audience that 42 percent of
the voters were students and a plurality of voters were between the ages of 18 and 25.

When you yuck it up with a liberal marxist snake that trashes your family, you sure as Hell will not stand up for conservative principles.

Don’t mistake winning the CPAC straw poll as the first step toward winning the GOP’s
presidential nomination. In CPAC’s 41-year history, only three poll winners on record
have gone on to become Republican presidential nominees: Ronald Reagan (who won twice),
George W. Bush, and Mitt Romney.

I was one of the hold your nose and vote for Romney conservatives last time, because I feared Obamas second term. No regrets, but a lot of us feel differently now.

If it’s to be Clinton Bush again, I don’t really care. That whole election will be to me living proof that we no longer have a free country, just an oligarchy. One ruling statist class, with a few mild flavors distinguishing one from other. I’d actually far rather see a full on proud socialist or communist running against a Ted Cruz. LAY IT ALL OUT THERE. We win. In the battle over ideas, a free constitutional republic beats tyranny.

So if it’s Clinton vs Bush, I’m done. I care not which one wins. No one gets to be bumpersticker on my car. It is a joke if we stick with bushes and clintons.

We have to think outside the box the parties have put us in.

What would it take? A lot of us are catatonic at our lack of power. The media holds all the cards.
