William Shatner has revealed he will be unable to attend Leonard Nimoy’s funeral.

The actor took to Twitter Saturday to lament that due to prior obligations, he will miss his “Star Trek” co-star and friend’s funeral on Sunday.

“I am currently in FL as I agreed to appear at the Red Cross Ball tonight,” he wrote. “Leonard's funeral is tomorrow. I can't make it back in time.”

Shatner’s presence wouldn’t turn this into any more of a circus than it might be already. This is SPOCK. hellOOOOO

Poor Shatner. He want’s to avoid being the center of attention and he’s gonna get slammed whether he goes or not.

Things could be worse. Will Glorious Leader crash the event?

I have read no one from Star Trek liked Shatner. Have no idea if it is true.

I dunno whether Nimoy liked Shatner, but they socialized as none of the others did while the show was active, and Nimoy tried to reconcile Shatner with some of the others long after the show was done. Everyone liked Nimoy; no one liked Shatner... except maybe Nimoy.

Did you enter that childish hissy fit into your Star Date Log?

Funny to see a Trekkie Freak hopping about this pathetic display, Disco Stu. :)

I haven’t figured out why anyone thinks it’s mandatory for Shatner to attend Nimoy’s funeral. If he was reasonably able to attend, he’d probably go. As it is, he can’t. So he’ll send flowers and a note of condolence, then visit at a later time, perhaps. Leonard ain’t gonna feel any better because Shatner made it to the funeral. In fact, at this point, he probably doesn’t much care. Neither should anybody else.

So far, the "pathetic display" here is the one put on by small, mean, petty people who presume to say ugly, nasty things about someone they do not know regarding something that is not their business.

Extraordinarily pathetic, in fact. You who are snarking at Shatner here should all go sit in a corner for awhile. You are contemptible.

Did trolling and flaming me make you feel better about William Shatner’s shocking set of priorities?

In my defense... It is really pathetic to allow yourself to be so angst ridden because dinner and a hotel room are more appealing to Shatner than his sense of duty to be at his friend’s funeral.

If Shatner really wanted to, he could have easily settled with the Red Cross Ball people in a 10 minute phone call and then been on the next flight to properly pay his last respects to a man he says was like a brother (Ouch!).

Welcome to Hollyweird (and their emotional Fanboys excusing anything while hypocritically posting insults against "about someone they do not know" - LoL!).

Btw, it is really dumb and authoritarian to say we can’t post our thoughts about famous people and how they publicly conduct themselves because we don’t personally know them.

The corner is for you, pathetic self inflicted wretch, do us a favor and make it a dark one. Grow-up and try to remember your real problem is with Hollyweird William Shatner and not anyone else. Maybe then you won’t be so tortured the next time this sort of thing happens. Taken in the spirit it is given - my defense to your nasty personal attack, would do yourself a great favor to pay heed to. You are welcome.

making a Shiva call is more personable and is a Mitzvah, perhaps that is his plan.

*Shiva= mourning at home after the funeral for 7 days(we don’t have wakes)

What hissy fit? I simply pointed out reality. If anybody is throwing a hissy fit it would be the guy insisting Shatner is blaming anybody.

Shiva is awesome. It’s a remarkable tradition, both for how it pushes the loved ones to what you really should be doing during this time (mourning, loving) rather than all the side junk non-Jews generally get stuck with during this time (funeral planning, paperwork), and for the way the loved ones pull together. I have a lot of Jewish friends and one of the things in the back of my head is the knowledge that when their parents die I have slightly different duties because of Shiva, especially with the friend whose parent regularly invite me for Passover.

I love Nimoy. RIP. He put me on TV doing something extraordinary. (Climbing the Great Pyramid Cheops)

But while I love the characters he plays and he is truly a funny guy, I don’t think much of Shatner personally. Screwed anything in a skirt. The 911 call when his wife was at the bottom of the pool? That kind of clinched it. “You want me to just jump in with my clothes on and get her out?” Sheesh. I realize they had been slightly estranged, but geesh. And a few days afterward, I saw him in a Jewish deli early in the morning, disheveled, hat hiding his pate, canoodling with the brunette that was his next wife or girlfriend. He did not look deep in mourning, I can tell you that.

After the show ended Shatner just walked away. He didn’t try to keep in touch with the others, he really tried to leave Trek behind. Admittedly he had a lot of other issues, being type cast really hurt his career, he went through a nasty divorce. But the rest of the cast was kind of bitter about it. The movies kind of brought them back together again, but he still kept some separation. After DeForest died he started changing on that front, he also went on a bit of a path to try to understand Trek from a fan perspective. For the most part he gets along with the cast now, except Takei, whose name he still doesn’t pronounce correctly and George just doesn’t like him.

Claiming someone does not understand real life because you do not agree with them is an emotional hissy fit.

But I have seen this from you before, like when you recently went on and on about an item I posted not making good sense and then I forced you to admit you didn’t even bother to click the link and read the whole story... You had a real hissy fit then.

And also your recent hissy fit when I simply asked you if you supported the legalization of drugs You refused to man-up and simply answer the question so I kept asking... You had a real meltdown of a hissy fit then too.

Come to think of it, here you are again posting insults to me and having your next hissy fit. You know, stalking is creepy and weird. Whatever damage was done to your psyche you should let it go and get over it already. For your own well being. You are welcome, also.
