A top political nemesis of President Vladimir Putin was shot and killed early Saturday in central Moscow, Russian police said, one day before an opposition rally was scheduled to take place.

Boris Nemtsov, 55, a former deputy prime minister, was shot four times from a passing car as he was walking on a bridge just outside the Kremlin. Interior Ministry spokeswoman Yelena Alexeyeva told reporters on the scene that Nemtsov was walking with a female acquaintance, a Ukrainian citizen, when a vehicle drove up and unidentified assailants shot him dead. The woman wasn't hurt.

Yeah. Those guys who commit suicide that shoot themselves 15 times are really hard to kill. So, they wind up shooting themselves multiple times to get the kill shot.

Nemtsov was going to make information public that demonstrated the Kremlin is involved in the Ukraine invasion

It's not like noone has made that claim before.

Golly, with all the Putin defenders popping up here, now I’m not so sure! Maybe it was just a random drive-by.

But you believe a high profile individual/target being murdered by a hired guns while leaving the soul eyewitness completely untouched is credible? .

You evaded the question...No surprise there.

BTW slick, the moniker is based on the definition of the word, not some TV show you watch.

Interesting comment/tweet on Fox website: “Devastated to hear of the brutal murder of my long-time opposition colleague Boris Nemtsov. Shot 4 times, once for each child he leaves.” — seems having kids can be a serious health hazard for some in Russia.

...” Nemtsov was going to make information public that demonstrated the Kremlin is involved in the Ukraine invasion, so there is that”...

The real question is why would the State Dept agree Putin had nothing to gain by this if in fact they themselves would be revealed for their role.....US and Russia both are playing hide and seek with the facts. I think everyone is fully aware what is happening in Ukraine is supported by both Obama and Putin...both have used backdoors to be involved in the fight, both with armament and economically...so that would not be news enough to kill the guy. It's simply not a secret needing to be told...rather for those who follow it's very clear.

Obvious is that the Ukraine people mean little to any, although I have to admit that Putin was quicker to get Russians out of there once Kiev began bombing the EA st.....as well offered Ukraine Military shelter who refused to fight their own people.

The Militia's care about one thing...their own agenda and what they stand to gain...several are run and paid by former Ukraine Oligarchs who still want to maintain their hold on Ukraine territory in the East......others are refusing to even heed Kiev and do not support Porosehenco, who is our guy running things...it's basically a mess there no matter how you look at it. One that Nuland and McCain falsely believed they could control.

Nemmtsov is no loss for any....simply another useful event to stoke the fires there...and there will be more death and fire....check out the streets of Kiev...Maidan's already to go against Poroshenko and he sends out his forces just as the Previous Pres. did....

Nothing changes in Ukraine....it's a dumpster nation and always will be....full of corruption and the people will always suffer with it.

So the Ukrainians offed some guy who was more sympathetic to their cause as opposed to, say, someone who wasn’t? In order to make Putin look bad?

...”McCain’s gonna get us all killed if someone doesn’t put him out to pasture”...

He’s one dangerous man....plays his hand regardless of the outcomes and cares not what they might be....like Obama..he has nothing to loose at this point so he simply stays in the game with no regard for the mess we’re going to have to clean up after them.

BTW...I have as much hatred for all McCain does as Obama...they are joined at the hip.

What is interesting is watching the hands play.....Kerry, Obama McCain all mentioned the wonderful value Nemtsov was to the world...yet few knew him...and Russians if not on the fence certainly weren’t supporting a former Yeltzin boy.

I still think he was our guy to rile the Russian people to turn on Putin.... Remember that prior Nemtov’s political party was refused representation in the Duma...so he simply went out and overtook another that was permissible...thus he was then recognized. Not because of who he was but the Party he was then with and over.

Ever since prior to Maidan we’ve had teams in Russia orgainising aginst Putin. I remember following them on twitter and other social media’s as they formed, left Ukraine, and arrived in Russia...pretty interesting to follow.

Just like we have teams on the ground in Israel organizing against BiBi’s re-election.

The mothers of Russian soldiers are all Ukrainians?

I don’t think anyone expects the political opposition to do well in a country with a media tightly controlled by Putin

More like the pre-Castro gansterismo of Cuba, pre-dating Batiste as well. The communists would just send him off to the Gulag without even the niceties of a driveby shooting.

Gulag is so passé. The guy was executed, it seems; not just murdered.
