President Obama’s outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder made an eyebrow-raising book recommendation in his exit interview with Politico on Friday.
Asked by Politico’s Mike Allen to name the one book Holder would recommend for a young man coming to Washington to read, Holder recommended the work of controversial civil rights figure Malcolm X.
“I would hope that I say this not to every African-American of his age but for every American, that you read The Autobiography of Malcolm X to see the transition that that man went through, from petty criminal to a person who was severely and negatively afflicted by race, to somebody who ultimately saw the humanity in all of us, and that would be a book I would recommend to everybody,” said Holder.

I remember there was one good scene in the movie with Denzel Washington, where the idiot blonde liberal white chick goes up to Malcolm and asks him if there was anything she could do to help his cause, to which he replied, “No.”
I agree...I read it years ago and a lot of it was quite surprising to me.

I suspect he wouldn’t either. Read it for a college English course 40 years ago. Malcolm did indeed go from petty criminal to something else. At the end, he actually had something of a clue about race in America as opposed to other parts of the world including in Africa and about real muslims. He was killed by his own because he moved away from their muslim movement, black power movement.

The Malcolm series was good until they got carried away with the CGI and introduced that annoying kid.

I’ve read Malcom X and Mr. X was quite smart. Too bad the writer (plagiarist Alex Haly of Roots fame) spent more time on Malcom X’s illegal activities and not enough on what Malcom came to believe.
I think if he had lived he would have repudiated everything the dis-honorable Elizia Mohammad said although he was kind of doing that before he was murdered.
