Dem: Believe science or ‘senator with the snowball’
The Hill ^ | 2/26/15 | Jordain Carney

Posted on 02/27/2015 4:03:27 PM PST by Libloather

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) on Thursday panned Sen. James Inhofe’s (R-Okla.) use of a snowball during a speech on climate change.

Whitehouse used his iPad to argue that a polar vortex was bringing cold air down to Washington in part because of warmer ocean temperatures.

He said that you could either believe “every major American scientific society,” the Navy, NASA, and Pope Francis that climate change is real or “you can believe the senator with the snowball.”

“You can believe NASA and you can believe what their satellites measure on the planet or you can believe the senator with the snowball. The United States Navy takes this very seriously... You can either believe the United States Navy or you can believe the senator with the snowball,” the Rhode Island Democrat said in a speech from the Senate floor.

Inhofe threw the snowball as part of an effort to dismiss climate change. The Oklahoma Republican said the snowball was from outside in Washington, using cold weather to argue against claims that greenhouse gases are behind an increase in the earth’s temperature.

“It’s a snowball. And it’s just from outside here. So it’s very, very cold out. Very unseasonable,” Inhofe said.

Whitehouse suggested that most Americans likely believed in man-made climate change.

“I would submit that if you looked at the American population and you removed the conspiracy theorists… and there are people who simply don't accept a lot of scientific truths… and if you remove the people who have financial ties to the fossil fuel industry… I would be very surprised if you find virtually anybody left that wasn’t prepared to be responsible about climate change,” he said.

"Whitehouse used his iPad to argue that a polar vortex was bringing cold air down to Washington in part because of warmer ocean temperatures."

Absolutely false. SSW over Siberia displacing a previously undisturbed (for the season) polar vortex.

Live and learn, Sen. Dipshit.

climate change is a political fraud, complete with tax intrusion, upon the American people.

Are the chinese, the nation of India, any other of the asian nations, taking part in this fraud?

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) incorrectly argued that a polar vortex was bringing cold air down to Washington. It is a polar transit that is bringing cold air down to Washington. I guess that Sen. Sheldon is trying to sound educated. He must like the sound of "vortex" without knowing what it is. The word has only recently been added to weather forecasting terminology.

Science and politics should NEVER be mixed. The Earth may be on the cusp of global cooling, owing to the quiet Sun and its overwhelming effect on climate. Mankind has nothing to do with climate change.

When HELL freezes over, these JO’s will still be propgandizing their ‘global warming’ BS.

Why? Because its a giant con game...involving much higher taxes and (would you believe it possible?) a lot of new stringent regulations restricting what little remains of our liberty

mostly though its the billions and billions of new taxes they plan to extract from us ‘to save the planet from burning up’

BUNK!
we are all freexing our asses off out here.

The Senator from Rhode Island will still be preaching global warming when the glaciers scrape his house into Long Island Sound.

“Science” once said the earth was flat.

“Anthropormorphic Global Warming” is evolutionism’s ugly, stupid sister.

Virtually all of the assertions of both of these “fields of science” are ad baculum or ad populum, with a lot of ad hominem thrown in for good measure.

At least once a week, Whitehouse does a stand-up routine on ‘climate change’ from the senate floor. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

Exactly. And it drives me crazy that when someone points out the bad science which drives the Global Warming Hoax, the hoaxers so often respond by saying, "What do you know?? You think the earth is flat!! You just reject ALL science!"

Childish.

Science said that it is impossible to go faster than 60mph and be able to breathe (trains) - science said that heavier than air machines are impossible (Royal Science Society 1898 or there about) - many many more.

Science ... consisting of 20+ computer models and not a one that can make a single correct prediction.

Physicist Howard Hayden's one-letter disproof of global warming claims [pre-Climategate]

Dear Administrator Jackson:

I write in regard to the Proposed Endangerment and Cause or Contribute Findings for Greenhouse Gases Under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act, Proposed Rule, 74 Fed. Reg. 18,886 (Apr. 24, 2009), the so-called "Endangerment Finding."

It has been often said that the "science is settled" on the issue of CO2 and climate. Let me put this claim to rest with a simple one-letter proof that it is false.

The letter is s, the one that changes model into models. If the science were settled, there would be precisely one model, and it would be in agreement with measurements.

Alternatively, one may ask which one of the twenty-some models settled the science so that all the rest could be discarded along with the research funds that have kept those models alive.

We can take this further. Not a single climate model predicted the current cooling phase. If the science were settled, the model (singular) would have predicted it.

(excerpted from Professor Hayden's letter to Lisa P. Jackson, Administrator Environmental Protection Agency. More at link.)

Science and politics should NEVER be mixed.
The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientifictechnological elite.

How about removing everyone with an interest in the “green industry” and scientists who live on and by federal government grants from that poll, Senator?

There is true science and there is pseudoscience. In true science, every hypothesis is subject to refutation. In pseudoscience, outside forces and opinions substitute for experimental evidence. True science is apolitical, it is governed only by facts. In pseudoscience, facts are manipulated to support outlandish theories. True science gave us Aristotle, Ptolemy, Kepler, Newton, and Einstein. Pseudoscience gave us voodoo, Pi equals 3.00, Trofim Lysenko and Al Gore.

Wait until you see all of the TRUE Scientists get shut down as part of this internet purge.

Yeah, the regime must shut down dissent.
I’d like to remind them that just eight years ago they said that dissent was patriotic...
