Before he got his head caught in a rice picker, no doubt.

seems to have made his sexuality the main reason for existence.

Not "seems to have".

Replace that with "has".

Dang. It doesn't seem so long ago when the old Trek promo pics were printed out in ASCII format and taped up on the walls of every university computer science lab in the country.

I remember running some of those printouts myself back in the early 80s at Georgia Tech on the CDC Cyber computers, when I was a young computer scientist.

The one you have displayed is part of a larger "photo" of Spock holding up a model of the USS Enterprise...

You would think somebody would be running a Star Trek marathon right about now.

I just checked the schedule and ME-TV has changed the episode for tomorrow night to “Amok Time”, I am sure because of Nimoy’s death.

Yep, that's the one. Couldn't find an ascii example of the full image. One of the other promo pics that I recall seeing printed by the VAX was the one with Spock and Kirk standing together, with Kirk holding the phaser rifle.

I found out about this at work and as a person who watched a heck of a lot of star trek TV shows and all the movies the only thing I have to say is “Live long and Prosper”.

Zakar...Remember....The death scene of Captain Spock (Leonard Nimoy), who had just sacrificed his life (after being exposed to radiation) to save the doomed U.S.S. Enterprise from a deadly explosion; before Spock went to his death, he transferred his katra — his memories and experience — to Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy (DeForest Kelley) with the word “Remember”....

Many years ago I had a kid named Nimoy in my class. I didn’t learn until later that he was Leonard Nimoy’s son. The kid had normal ears (the pointy ears must be a recessive trait).

I remember it well. So what if it was “silly”...it was the Seventies, a silly time in its own right. And some of the material really was good.

Besides, that theme music by Rinder and Lewis was great by itself.

Well, as I said, at the time I didn’t know he was Leonard Nimoy’s son. This was more than 30 years ago so my memory isn’t very clear but I think he was a smart kid and a good student. Probably was happy not to have yet another person asking him questions about his celebrity dad.
