The American Mirror ^ | 2/26/15 | Olaf Ekberg

While many say the right to vote is priceless, in Chicago, the real value of a vote itself is apparently $10.

In the run up to the Windy City’s vote this week for city leaders, resident Willie Allen says he was approached and offered $10 to vote for a particular candidate.

“I was coming down the street, going to the house. And there was a gentleman who approached me,” Allen says.

When I grew up in da city, the precinct captain would come around at election time and saw to it that you got new garbage cans if you needed ‘em.
Dey were da 55 gallon drums from God knows where.
But enough people went along wit Old Man Daley.
A garbage can, a vote. What more can I say?

I don’t think it works that way. There is a big black dude or union thug that “assists” you to ensure that you are voting “right”.

This is the part that really sticks in my craw. At least the Democrats bribe their voters. The Republicans expect us to show up and vote like inner city voters for nothing. They could at least spring for a ride, and some cigarettes.

An election judge worth his salt (and, yes, I are one) will not allow that. Of course, our precinct isn’t run by Democrats either.

Malt liquor, too! A couple of forties will do just fine.

The reason for giving a receipt to a voter is for the voter to have proof to those who pay for votes. Receipts are generally given where election fraud is rampant and condoned.

only 10 dollars? That’s what they pay for a vote here in the Philippines.

although I should say usually the poor have several offers to chose from, so it’s not like only one side is buying votes.
