Cruz: Make Candidates Who Claim Conservatism Prove It
ABC Snooze ^ | 02/26/2015 | PHILIP ELLIOTT

Republicans must not let themselves be tricked into picking a moderate presidential nominee in 2016, by demanding their hopefuls have a demonstrated commitment to conservatism, Sen. Ted Cruz told an enthusiastic audience Thursday.

Cruz, himself a likely presidential candidate, warned activists gathered at the Conservative Political Action Conference near Washington that voters who pick the GOP nominee are likely to hear a similar pitch: "You betcha. Who-diddley. I'm as conservative as all get out." But, without naming names, he suggested that many of those likely candidates lacked the record to back it up.

On the whole, you could say the same thing about the GOP in general. All talk, no walk.

The GOP needs to tell the national media to shove their entirely predictable election year routine up their marxist arses and talk directly to the American voter.

I wish.

If they say they are “severely conservative”, run for the hills.

Anything that would save us from having posters saying that Romney and Reagan were at the same place in their conservatism.

Cruz's Words:
"If a candidate tells you that they oppose Obamacare — fantastic! When have you stood up and fought against it?" he asked of his potential rivals, many of them slated to address the audience.

"Actions speak far, far louder than words. We need to look to people who walk the walk," he added.

As far as I know, Bush hasn’t stated he’s conservative, although the media has labeled him a conservative, just like Romney, McCain, et. al.

To the lib media, an, “R” behind the name means conservative.

So, Cruz is endorsing Walker, who has a tangible and verifiable conservative track record in elected office.

Cruz has not been in an elected leadership position that would test his conservative rhetoric in practice and at the ballot box.

That is not a knock on Cruz, but a reality he needs to deal with.

While I love Cruz, he might do more good by being the conservative voice in the Senate.

Let’s see now, the conservative candidate must say he is for lower taxes on the rich, war with Iran, deport all illegals, and bring back a disguised poll tax. Nah, that’s just for rallies. We ain’t gonna hear anyone prove they are conservative.

Cruz has not been in an elected leadership position that would test his conservative rhetoric in practice and at the ballot box.

Go push Scott "The Weather Vane" Walker some place else.

And quit pushing a false meme as well. Cruz's votes, and solitary leadership on the conservative issues of the day, while Walker was running away from the Right-To-Work fight one day, and then running back towards the fight, running away from the Gay Marriage fight and giving up, while Cruz continues to fight the good fight, spouting Pro-Abortion rhetoric one day, and then figuring out that probably won't sell to the conservatives in Iowa on another day, and finally, pushing for Amnesty and an Open-Borders policy for a very long time, including supporting McCain's Amnesty, and now proclaiming how he is a hardliner now shows an amazing inconsistency.

Get back to us when Walker makes up his mind if he wants to be a conservative, or just a Chamber-of-Commerce Republican.

Cruz has already proven himself on all of these issues, and remains consistent. Walker, not so much, and until he does, he's not worthy, from a conservative perspective, of being POTUS.

BEWARE!

Conservatism does not necessarily mean constitutional.

I believe to Senator Cruz “Conservative” is much more than an obligatory campaign slogan.

I see you are still trying to peddle your LIES about Walker for some unknown reason.

Rather than spread the liberal ejaculate about Walker's words, which you happily gobble up, on FR, perhaps you can show us something Walker actually did as governor that was not conservative?

I am waiting for one of these arbiters of who is, and who isn't, conservative to show us how Walker governed as a RINO and not twist his words the way liberals love to twist them.

"I believe to Senator Cruz “Conservative” is much more than an obligatory campaign slogan."

Noting that I will vote for Cruz if nominated as “conservative” candidate for president, I respectfully disagree.
