Battle over Homeland Security heats up and Alabama's Jeff Sessions is in the middle of the fight

A look at some closed-doors negotiations involving the Homeland Security Department funding bill shows things are heating up among Republicans trying to hammer out a deal. And at the center of it all is Alabama's Jeff Sessions.

Politico detailed a recent Senate Republican meeting in a story yesterday. The negotiations center on a bill that would keep DHS funded through the end of the year. The measure has already passed the House but has stalled in the Senate due to Democratic opposition to the inclusion of repeal of President Obama's immigration orders.

Some Senators are calling for a "clean" bill - one without the immigration provisions. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has advocated for such a bill and that's drawn the ire of Sessions, a leading opponent to the White House's immigration plans.

"According to four senators at the lunch session, a frustrated Sen. Jeff Sessions angrily dismissed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's plan, arguing that his party should be prepared for an all-out battle with Democrats to ratchet up public pressure and force President Barack Obama to drop his immigration policies," Politico noted.

"The dispute between the vulnerable Republican and the Alabama conservative highlights the larger challenges facing McConnell and House Speaker John Boehner. The two are staring at a Friday deadline to avoid a shutdown of DHS but are struggling to balance the demands of immigration hard-liners with Republicans who fear political and practical fallout from DHS shutting down."

The public is opposed to Obummer’s executive fiat amnesty, a federal judge has ruled it is unlawful, the DHS is fully funded except for implementation of Obummer’s unlawful amnesty, and McConnell still cannot resist total capitulation.

Sessions: “Charge!”

McConnell: “Retreat, retreat!”

A DHS more concerned with tracking the regime’s opposition than securing the borders NEEDS to be defunded!

I also am wearied by the Mississippi delegation’s consistent lack of spinal rigidity, even though Thad is old and feeble, seems like being that close to the hole would scare him into doing his constituents bidding. Oh wait, who are his constituents?

WHY, WHY these stupid republicans have not made Jeff Sessions leader of this stinking party is beyond me. Jeff is my senator and I am danged proud to call the man ours. I wish we had 100 like him and this stinking nation would not be a garbage pit. The stinking RINOs cannot carry Jeff’s drawers. They kiss Hussein’s sorry stinking butt, give him everything he wants, and Jeff and a very few fight the good fight. Against the commie dimocrats and against the butt kissing liberal RINOs. Sadly, Jeff is out numbered by the O’Connell’s of the congress.

Sen. Jeff Sessions is a good man - we’re blessed to have him at this time in history.
