NYC Cabbie Tells Jewish Passenger 'All Jews Must Die'

Another anti-Semitic cab driver has been unearthed in the Big Apple, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday, after one cabbie told a 51 year-old Jewish woman that "all Jews must die."

On Sunday morning, Jewish news columnist Baila Sebrow hailed a cab from Manhattan's Carlton Hotel - but when she entered the cab, she was instantly asked whether she was Jewish.

After answering in the affirmative, Sebrow was told that "all Jews must die," and the driver then began driving "really fast" - so much so that she was afraid he would total the car, she stated.

Sebrow, terrified, demanded to be brought back to her hotel, only for the driver to also demand that she pay the full fare. The driver also left the meter on during the entire exchange and the argument that ensued afterwards over his behavior, she alleged - turning a $5 cab ride into a $30 nightmare.

He then “continued to yell wildly about ‘death to Jews’ while making a gun gesture towards Sebrow with his fingers,” according to a lawsuit Sebrow's attorney, Robert Tolchin, filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court Monday night.

Anyway, I have my own NYC cabbie story.

It was winter so it was dark when I left the office. I exited the building at Madison and 23rd and crossed the street heading to the subway. The entrance is not at the corner so I jaywalked over to Madison Square Park. A cab turned left off 23rd onto Madison while I was crossing. My briefcase is red with a mirror finish, so when the cab headlights pointed at me I flicked my wrist and his headlights were raked back into his own eyes. He slowed the cab to a halt while furiously rubbing his eyes, then he yelled at me (wearing a turban) flipped me off and then sped off.

Sebrow later called 9-1-1, but was told merely to pay the driver and issue a complaint with the Taxi & Limousine Commission, she said. An NYPD police spokesman noted that an officer had replied to the complaint at the scene, but deemed Sebrow "combative" in interactions with police.

"Combative" in interactions with police? My guess is that there was no physical altercation between this decent woman and the cops. This "combative" description seems like a cop-out (pardon the pun) by the police who have no intention of bringing charges against the Islamic cabbie, all too aware of the lay of the land under the DeBlasio regime.

Complaint with the Taxi and Limousine Commission? DeBlasio controls that as well, so that also would be futile.

Now why the heck isn't the name of the Muslim cab driver mentioned in the article? Could he have gotten away without even being identified?

I presume his complete identity is known as the victim is filing a lawsuit against the driver and his employer.

The victim's combativeness must have been verbal, else she'd have been arrested.

I'm open to correction, but I think the cabbies actions constitute assault under common law. I would have been in fear of my life, perhaps the lady wasn't. Substitue pig (as in leo) for Jew, the cops would have arrested him.

Although your points have validity in general, I'm not sure if this lady is a NYC resident. The fact mentioned in the story - that she was staying in a hotel - would probably mean that she was from out of town.
