resident Barack Obama’s proposed budget would allow him to raid a program he approved that was aimed at improving medical treatment for veterans living in rural areas, said a letter signed by, among others, U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Colo.

The Veterans Choice program, which had funding of $10 billion when it was approved and signed last year, was intended to reduce waiting times for veterans who had been on waiting lists for more than 30 days or who lived more than 40 miles from a Veterans Affairs clinic.

The proposed budget — which was roundly criticized by Republicans in the House — asks that the VA have authority to reallocate excess funds as needed from the program.

Most guys I know received their “Choice Card” but one must call VA to enroll. To see if they are eligible (40 mile away from nearest VAH) and otherwise qualified. Problem is, they are told VA will get back to them. None have received a call back...

These days, I advise anyone who asks to NOT volunteer for the military. While the military is full of honorable men and women, the very senior leadership is corrupt and PC. Just sayin’. Oh, and wait for the debates about which uniforms the transgendered will wear. Pass the popcorn. Full disclosure: I’m a retired veteran.

Why, yes, after looking at the great financial care taken by VA executives, I see no problem with giving them bags full of hard-earned American Taxpayer money to spend on whatever they want. Are there very many private islands still for sale?

I called the Va when I received my Choice Card. I was told I was not eligible because there was a VA Clinic in my town. But the VA Clinic is not a Hospital. The Clinic can give shots and take blood for testing (done in a VA Hospital) and check BP and listen to your heart and that is about it. I told the Clinic I was having a problem with my left hip and having problems walking because of the pain. They wrote me a note and told me to take it across the street to get my hip X-Rayed. I walked across the street to the Hospital and got the X-ray no fuss no muss.

I got a letter from the VA about a week later with all the results from the blood tests and results of the X-Ray. I was told I needed a MRI of my hip and they were scheduling an appointment for a MRI at the nearest VA Hospital (100 Miles away). This was May 30 last year and still no appointment with the VAH. But right across the street from my local VA Clinic is a local Hospital that can do the MRI.

Go figure.
