Police are investigating a body found on a Jupiter beach naked with a gunshot wound early Monday.
A person found the man, who appeared to be in his late 50's, at about 6:50 a.m. in the 200 block of Ocean Trail Way, according to a Jupiter Police news release.
Police examined the body and discovered a gunshot wound. appeared to be on the beach for a "significant amount of time," Jupiter police spokesman Sgt. Scott Pascarella said.
The identity of the man is currently unknown.
"This investigation is currently being considered a suspicious death until further investigation can be conducted," Pascarella said.
Police ask anyone with information on this incident to call Jupiter Police at 561-746-6201.

Burt’s house (which he used to let Charles Nelson Reilly live in) is up the road a bit in Tequesta. Not on the ocean, but the Intracoastal. Last I heard it was in foreclosure and going to auction. Not sure if that happened yet or not.
This location is a very popular public beach - one of the nicest beaches you’ll find actually.
The gun would be in the sand near him.
One would think. But I wonder if its possible to shoot yourself at high tide and have the gun washed out. I'm sure they've done some snorkeling looking for it.
It just seems like an odd place for a murder. A suicide, not so much.
The gun being denser than the sand would quickly be covered by sand but would not wash out to sea. Also, the tide is minimal in the Jupiter Beach area. Rising and falling less than a foot.
More likely someone picked the gun up and kept it.
most likely it is on the bottom of the sea or still in possession of the shooter.
I say the guy was shot off shore and washed up.Report is to vague to determine how far up on shore the dead guy was......
Where in relationship to the tide line was the body found..any one know?
I predict they’ll find the gun and it will be ruled a suicide.

More likely that you would be washed out. And washed back in. But not at exactly the same place. If this is a suicide, the gun, being much denser than water, should stay about where it was dropped.
It said body had been there for a considerable amount of time....
Its all condos and people walk that all day long so I don’t think it was there the day before as the gulls would have started in on it.I assume the guy that found it was doing his morning beach walk.
Once he is ID’d it will come clearer.
Yup...no one (hardly ever) on that beach from 1AM-5:30AM, but after that it’s a busy place. Folks used to walk that beach at sunrise every day just looking for square groupers ;)
Well maybe this guy skimmed to many Square Grouper or Peruvian Marching Dust from the wrong guys.Its not like there are not any of those types in the marinas in that area.
It’s in Jupiter Beach Park. You can look it up on Google Maps. To be concealed it would have to be in the small mangrove area. It’s a nice park and great for novice snorkeling.
I asked where in relationship of the tide line( high and low) was the body found?
I know its a park and mangroves.Are you saying the body was up by the mangroves which would indicate it did not wash up.

One report said initially cops thought he drowned which tells me he was at the water line....Supporting my theory of being shot off shore,striped, to keep forensics from finding any marina/boat/car or any other particles on him and tossed over the side.Probably wasn’t supposed to wash up but be scarfed up by sea creatures.
After looking at these photos I still say this guy washed up on shore.Autopsy will show he was in the water for a while..I am sticking to my theory.
