A victim of its own success, California’s popular Medi-Cal program has rapidly swelled to a large enough size to malfunction. It’s known as Medicaid in the rest of the country and provides medical care to poor people.

KEYWORDS:
“In addition to Medi-Cal primary cuts making it potentially impossible for new patients to find physicians, President Barack Obama’s executive action will make approximately 1 million undocumented immigrants in California eligible for health insurance tax subsidies.” “The benefits received by undocumented immigrants through these programs are almost entirely funded by the state and would therefore result in additional General Fund costs of an unknown amount. The General Fund costs to provide state–funded benefits to this population are unknown at this time.”

Barack Obama the gift that keeps on giving. An economic perfect storm is rapidly approaching California

How DO taxpaying Californians actually get by?

Seriously.

Every time I turn around there is another multi-billion dollar "program" that needs funding.

Are there THAT many people who have "spare cash" to send in to the government?

My friend lives in LA, and works as a lawyer in the prosecutor's office.

He makes around 100K per year.

Sounds like a lot, huh?

He pays Federal, State, and Local taxes.

I forget what it adds up to but it's a BIG chunk out of his paycheck.

He's always complaining about how he just can't get ahead in that environment.

I feel sorry for him as he is one of the three republicans living in LA.

WE, the rest of the nation MUST resist calls to bail out CA, NY or any other liberally run state government with Federal Tax dollars.

My company tracks my hours in a given zip code and collects state income tax accordingly. I'm an Idaho resident, but I've had to work significant time in California and Nebraska. Enough that I'm having to file income taxes in all 3 states. In my income bracket, the state income tax is almost a wash between CA and ID. CA sales tax is higher, but they don't tax food as ID does. CA cost of living is MUCH higher than ID. I'm thankful to be home...even with a reduction in hours to 32 vs 40 in San Diego. I'm still ahead for being out of CA.

“WE, the rest of the nation MUST resist calls to bail out CA, NY or any other liberally run state government with Federal Tax dollars.”

Too late the federal government already kicks in $37 billion per year into California’s Medi-Cal program.

I'm concerned.

My Medicare and Kaiser Senior Advantage Plus premiums are at about 20% of my base retirement income. Dipping into savings isn't far behind.

This program will rob my children of their inheritance.
