How the AIDS epidemic really began
NY Post ^ | 02/22/2015 | Stephen Lynch

In Randy Shilts’ history of AIDS, “And the Band Played On,” he tells the story of an Air Canada steward named Gaëtan Dugas, who suffered from what Dugas called “gay cancer” and infected 40 people or more with HIV. He was, Shilts wrote, “Patient Zero.” Modal TriggerDugas, through his extensive travels and unrepentant, unprotected sex even after he was diagnosed, undoubtedly helped spread AIDS. But was he the man who brought the disease to America?

In the new book, “The Chimp and the River: How AIDS Emerged from an African Rain Forest” (W.W. Norton), author David Quammen says no.

I still remember in the early 80s, working in the Chrysler Building, reading a Times Article about men with cancerous sarcomas - believed to be caused by poppers. Having worked in Studio 54 on the weekends, I had been exposed to poppers although never did it myself - I was afraid of drugs. That was the first shoe dropping...

And Ebola is caused, apparently, from eating monkey meat. Why don’t they leave those damned animals alone?

Are monkeys and chimps considered halal?

And next year there will be a new theory. As long as the gubmint keeps handing out money for research there will be new theories for everything from ketchup pouring to aids research. And everything in between.

Ummm ... now I heard it was the USA experimenting with monkeys in Africa, in order to create the disease ... so that the USA could infect the blacks in Africa, to keep them poor there, and then to bring the disease over to the blacks in the USA!

At least that’s what I heard from a guy before the people in the white coats hauled him off ... LOL ...

Interesting that gay sex was scarcely mentioned in the article.

Two horrible thoughts occur to me on this ...

1. What else a human might have been doing with a chimp besides hunting it.

2. This happened so long ago that the human could well have been Tarzan. (”I say, Jane, do you know what Tarzan is up to when doesn’t get home to the tree house until very late at night?”

Agreed! Wasn’t AIDS called Gay Man’s Plague initially because it was almost exclusively identified in the Sodomite community?

I read that Ebola is believed to come from eating “bats”, not monkeys.

A paranoid might think history is being re-written to suit an agenda.

Hunters (gun owners?) bad, gays good (or should I say innocent)

There was a case in 1959 in the UK and another in a black teenager in St Louis in 1969. The Dugas story was possibly true but not the explanation for the epidemic.

As long as the infected persons were not wildly promiscuous spreaders of bodily fluids, the probability of an infected person passing it on before he died was fairly low.

Once you had infected people doing the gay bathhouse circuit in the major cities, it spread rapidly.

My take away from the article is that the epidemic was introduced into the western hemisphere from Haiti via Haitian health care workers displaced from the Congo.

From the article:
"In the early 1970s, a plasma-donation clinic, run by a Miami investor, opened in Haiti offering residents $3 per liter. Shared needles at this clinic likely increased the infection rates in Haiti and shipped the disease to the United States.

No, it's unlikely any human would have sex with a live chimp. Adult chimps are IMMENSELY strong and aggressive, and can rip a human apart. chimp attacks

Actually, a doctor at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis had a black teenage patient who died in 1969 of an unknown disease. She froze a blood sample and it was positive for AIDS when tested in 1983. She believed that her patient was in fact having gay sex with TWA stews for extra money and may be patient 1, with a gay TWA being patient 0.

Unprotected gay sex. Plain and simple. Any questions? Not only did they spread it amongst their gay partners they decided to ‘share the love’ with innocents who received blood products from the homosexuals.
