The Non-Measles Outbreak That’s Not Making News

Blame, instead, an exotic disease in Africa for grabbing all of the attention.

Considering Ebola hasn't been mentioned much in the American Press since we got the new Ebola Czar, and the EV D-68 out break continues, I don't think I will blame a virus for not publishing information on an ongoing outbreak.

The blame lies squarely on the media who will do all they can to downplay the highly likely connection between the disease and the active (and continued) undermining of immigration law by this administration.

The EV68 outbreak has been going on for months, but the Ebola outbreak has occupied everyone’s attention. At best, EV68 got a mention now and then.

According to the CDC website, EV68 has been reported regularly since 1987. It’s hard to say where it came from.

If I were going to blame illegals for disease, I’d blame them for things like Chaga and bedbugs; we never (to my knowledge) had Chaga before, but it is endemic in South America, and we *had* eradicated bedbugs but they are back. Another couple of diseases that we can blame on travelers (not necessarily illegals, but they cannot be held blameless either) are dengue and chikungunya. Illegals are probably importing tuberculosis, as well.

I think the major impacts of illegals are economic and social. Our kids cannot get jobs because the minimum wage is so high; instead of addressing that, our politicians just look the other way while illegals come in and do those same jobs “under the table” for a pittance, paying no taxes but receiving all kinds of costly benefits paid for by legal American citizens. Yet our politicians want to incentivize them even more to come in. It is horrendous.

Go back and check out the number of cases. From 1962, when the virus was discovered to the beginning of 2014, there were under 100 cases (total) in the US over 52 years.

The number of cases increased sharply with the illegal immigrant surge in 2014 and the distribution of cases closely matched the known distribution of those 'children'.

Just the increase in number of cases is enough to trip a flag. For a disease to sharply increase following the same pattern as the distribution of illegal aliens and coinciding with that distribution may not be definitive enough for you, but would I think it would merit further inquiry.

And, despite Ebola in the news, EV D-68 has been noted around this site, too.
