LETTER: Stop listening to the misinformed on global warming
The Sanford Herald ^ | Feb. 21, 2015 | Pete Kuntz Northglenn, Colorado

Posted on 02/21/2015 6:05:34 PM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

To the Editor:

Yet another climate denier letter displaying a scientific illiteracy that is a sad indictment of our educational system: "Humans didn't cause global warming" in the Feb 11 edition of The Sanford Herald. All you have to do is Google "Scientific American global warming" to find out that global warming is an undisputed scientific fact.

Climate scientists know all about previous periods of climate change, that's basic high school science class stuff. They were all caused by something. Scientists call that something a "forcing." They have established that this time the forcing is not any of the previous causes of climate change. It's been proven to be caused by our burning massive amounts of fossil fuels. See the award-winning Skeptical Science website for peer-reviewed climate science data on this.

Why do so many people disbelieve every scientific body in the world and every climate scientist publishing in peer-reviewed science journals (where real scientists show their work and express their ideas)? It's because the fossil fuel industry is fighting for its life and it's fighting dirty, secretly spending millions to spread lies and pseudoscience is right-wing media. (Scientific American, "Dark Money.") They've modeled their denial campaign directly on big tobacco's old denial that smoking causes lung cancer, fake "scientists" and all. (From The De Smog Blog, chosen as one of TIME's 25 best blogs of 2011).

Let's stop listening and (and printing letters from) the misinformed (we see where spreading pseudoscience leads, as measles spreads across our country) and look at solutions to global warming. The main one is to phase out the use of fossil fuels, and that can be very good for our economy, whatever you think of global warming. Most major economists agree, including eight Nobel Prize winners.

Watch "Climate Solutions Citizens Climate Lobby" and "Decarbonization Takes The Fast Lane" on YouTube and see the nonprofit, grassroots Citizens Climate Lobby website for more information.

To the Editor:

Yet another brainless PBS/NPR drone regurgitated partisan talking points, and you should be ashamed of yourself for printing them.

You are right. That’s even worse than Mr Tin Can or Mr Harry Man (who was always being paged on the Akron Canton airport white courtesy phone in the mid 70s).

It does make you wonder if Peter’s brother is named Harry.

After Mark Twain spent an evening with Rudyard Kipling he stated, “Mr. Kipling knows everything a man can possibly know, and I know all the rest.”

Interesting. Searching for the author using - “peter kuntz” northglenn - results in Letters to the Editor this idiot has written, published in newspapers across the country.

Papers from Maine, Missouri, Utah, California, Texas, Wyoming, etc., have all published letters from “Peter”.

Basically they all say the same thing.

Hits all of the editing points in an adequately crafted propaganda piece.

BUT Note: NOT ONE FACT in the entire thing. NOT ONE.

That piece is the equivalent of a guy dangling a stopwatch on a chain in front of your eyes. You are feeling very relaxed, very sleepy.

Once asleep, you’ll accept and do anything.

> Why do so many people disbelieve every scientific body in the world and every climate scientist publishing in peer-reviewed science journals

Because we compare the projected global warming temperatures to the actual temperature. It didn’t happen. The models are wrong. Joke’s over.

If it is in the pages of Scientific American, it's science and therefore absolute truth.

I have Read Scientific American in the 50 and 60s, and the crap they publish today is embarrassing.

The true ignorance of that letter is breathtaking.

Consensus science is not science. "Peer" reviews by incestuous small groups of hucksters reviewing each others' fraudulent manipulation of data is NOT science.

The Greatest minds in science of the last 300 years ALL agree on only one thing : The most honest and useful driving force in the advancement of science is...

SKEPTICISM...

With some notable exceptions, most of what has passed muster in “science” is things that people can reproduce.

Four words in and you knew it’s a nutcase.

“Let’s stop listening and (and printing letters from) the misinformed...” Silencing other thoughts and opinions, eh? How communist...
