The shooting happened at the San Diego Regional Firearms Training Center on Alta Road about 10 a.m., FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth said. Investigators are trying to determine if the agent accidentally shot himself or if the gun malfunctioned.

In my day we had leather flap holsters with tie downs. Stamped US on flap. And a Colt .45 inside the holster. Later I guess they went to a canvas type holster.

Curious if you ever diagnosed what specifically was causing the problem? Every one gets a lemon once and awhile, but sounds like you’ ve has several.

Some family. Your identity is wrapped in the name of a gun manufacturer. How pathetic.

Someone who shoots would know what I mean by "Glock family". I take it you do not.

'Pathetic'? I have pathos, all right-- I feel sorry for you. Armed people are citizens. The unarmed are slaves.

Failures-to-extract (FTE's, or stovepipes) in a Glock are usually ammo issues. Sometimes, a particular load just doesn't work.

I guess people get the idea that the gun brand is at fault. That's fine, there are other brands out there.

But in thousands of rounds, I have never had an FTE in my Glocks.

I’m not sure what it was. It wasn’t just one caliber either. I owned 2 10mm’s (#20 & 29) and a 9mm (19).

The 10mm’s didn’t like FMJ’s or FN rounds. The 9mm would do the same thing occasionally (though not as often) with JHP’s. The Glock guy claimed I was limp-wristing the guns, but that couldn’t be because I’ve owned XD’s & XDM’s (which are almost identical) and never had any malfunctions with those.

I never did find out and sold them all off. You seem to lose confidence in a product after multiple failures. I know others bet their lives on these, but I won’t ever buy another one. JMHO....

My 20 & 29 hated FMJ’s and FNGC rounds, perhaps it was the ammo but with the failure rate both of them had I found it unreasonable to keep them.

My 19 didn’t care for JHP rounds every now & then—not as often as the 10mm’s. Maybe I got lemons? The Glock folks said I was limp-wristing the guns, but I also owned XD’s & XDM’s which are very similar to Glocks in design and I didn’t get anything but perfection from those Springfields.
