MUST READ-Needed: An American Renaissance
Western Journalism ^ | February 2, 2015 | Lawrence Sellin

The Obama years will be forever known as the Dark Ages of US history, a time of political, cultural, and economic deterioration. We have yet to see if they will lead to the fall of the American republic.

In the Obama years, the lie became not only a campaign strategy or a means to enact damaging policies, but an institution of government: the Presidency itself, a lie of monstrous proportions guarded by the complicit and the willingly ignorant.

In the Obama years, the Congress finally clearly demonstrated that although we have elections, there is no longer a government representing its citizens, but an entity serving itself, operating outside of Constitutional constraints and unaccountable to the American people for the benefit of the few at the expense of the many.

Advertisement-content continues below

In the Obama years, disseminating either disinformation or no information, a devoted media helped create the intellectual darkness and vacant servitude required to carry out the strategy of their leftist Messiah–a country without any sense of its own history and traditions, where the low-information voter would slouch towards Obama’s imaginary utopia through a combination of governmental coercion and the hedonist nihilism of a painless, amusement-sodden, and stress-free America managed by a nanny-state.

In the Obama years, we see the resurrection of the economic feudalism of the Dark Ages, a system dominated by wealthy special interests that inhibit the upward mobility of the poor and the middle class.

In the Obama years, like during the Dark Ages, we witness the rise of Islamic hegemony and violence, the infiltration of the US government by the Muslim Brotherhood, and the promotion of Sharia law in our schools and judicial system.

The sentiments expressed regarding the Obama years and the urgency in which the state of our nation is under duress to an unprecedented degree is the most profoundly insightful, eloquent I've yet read. But is anybody listening? And even so, is there anyone, anybody, any entity who has the power, the wherewithal, to stop the diabolical process that is going on before it is really too late?? Have e already crossed the Rubicon?

America! America! Heed this call!! Rouse yourself from this slumber or never again shall you see the light of day!!

A new birth of freedom is needed.

Not only for us, but for the entire world.

The flame of freedom goes out here, no one is coming to relight it.

Yes it was a well written article, however:

An American Renaissance cannot be achieved, however, if we do not, as a country, speak the truth and recognize how far we have strayed from the Constitution, representative government, and fiscal sanity.

Since the media is complicit in suppressing the truth, aiding the straying from the Constitution, fighting against representative government in favor of authoritative government, and could careless about fiscal sanity because they don't really grasp its importance. Couple that with the vast majority of Americans who do not recognize what a great country this was, and can still be, equates that an American Renaissance is all but ensured not to occur.

Obama thinks history and his colleagues in academia will vindicate him in the future.

The only one history will vindicate will be Jimmy Carter from being the worst president. Of course, Carter only got one term to create his havoc, whereas Obama has had two terms.

We still have repercussions from the Carter foreign policy. Reverberations from the Obama foreign policy will be felt for the remainder of this century and beyond.

Articles like Mr. Sellin’s suffer from extreme cases of myopia. They only see back as far as the current political party’s control.

Like it or not, GWBush left giant messes in the economy and foreign affairs when his watch ended. Of course, Obama has only made things worse in both foreign and domestic affairs.

This article wasn’t all that good. While dear leader has certainly presided over a sort of dark age, its disingenuous to act as if that started with him and is solely his administrations responsibility. No, this has been going on for a long, long time and the other faction of the uniparty, the gop, has been in full collaboration.

As for a renaissance, it isn’t coming. At least for the US as a whole. The uniparty, the media, and a large portion of the populace...dare I say a majority...are perfectly fine with the way things are headed.

"Since the media is complicit in suppressing the truth, aiding the straying from the Constitution, fighting against representative government in favor of authoritative government, and could careless about fiscal sanity because they don't really grasp its importance."

I grew up in a military family, and since I was able to read, I was fascinated by military history having a house full of artifacts from WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, occupied Germany, etc. From my earliest years I could not understand how people would be so blind to fall for the absurd, ridiculous over-the-top propaganda of the Nazis, Kim Il Sung, the Soviets, etc. I double majored in History and Art History, and while on an intellectual level, I understood the power of propagating myth and the emotional draw of images, I never could have imagined the American people falling for such, hook, line and sinker, but now see with much clarity, how wrong I was.

The admonition that people who believe in nothing will fall for anything could not have been more prescient and sadly, it is the secular, humanist left who understands that better than anybody, and has worked assiduously over the last century to remove God from, and inject moral relativism into, every aspect of the public conscience, and we are now harvesting the fruits. As CS Lewis wrote in 1943, "We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst."

Consciously, I keep hoping that there will be a Renaissance in America. But the day to day reality saps my hope. Obama and his cronies are willfully hurting America.

I too was from a military family, but must admit that history was not something I paid attention to. After all it was boring. My history teacher BTW, was Joe McCarthy's granddaughter. Like I was even impressed by that or even knew who Joe McCarthy was at that point in time. Nor did I understand why our country was exceptional and unlike any other country before or since. But I did assume, as incorrectly as you, that it could never happen here so why worry about history. Matter of fact I used to snicker at my dad and think him delusional & paranoid when he would rant that communists were taking control of our schools.

The old saying, the older I get the smarter my father becomes, is so true.

The communists knew they could never defeat a capitalist free society with weapons and money in a head to head battle. However, they also knew that they could defeat us if they took their time to re-educate the youth of America. They then used American freedoms to work against Americans. Convincing the less successful and the minorities that their plight was not their doing but rather someone else's doing, they began dividing our population into small segments that would fight against each other. To further dilute the cohesion within our population they used our inherent kindness to create a welfare system. Small at first but guaranteed to grow bigger & bigger. This not only increased the division within America but also depleted America's resources with a slow slide into financial insolvency. The final act is now being played out in the form of mass illegal immigration guaranteed to speed the financial insolvency it has worked so patiently to achieve.

There are a lot of Americans who fail to see any of what is happening to them, nor do I see many having that epiphany in the near future. Much like cooking a frog. If you put the frog in cold water and slowly turn up the heat they never realize they are being cooked.

Laissez les bons temps rouler (Let the good times roll), will soon become a memory, because we are rolling into our own demise. Just like a frog.
