The reason the federal government went after D’Souza so forcefully was that Dinesh, in his first movie 2016: Obama’s America, hit the nail right on the head regarding our Dear Leader’s agenda. Obama could not let this continue. He had to attempt to silence Dinesh and buy more time to complete his goal—the creation of a global Islamic caliphate.
The evidence is just too overwhelming. There is no other conclusion any intelligent, thinking man can come to.

And if Dinesh did what the prosecutors said he did, what else could he have expected but to be prosecuted? Chicago politicians and government hacks have always played hardball with their opponents and it's usually not because they're establishing an Islamic caliphate.
Also interesting that D’Souza committed his “valid” actions in secret.
If his assertions were valid, D’Souza would have proudly flaunted the law in plain view.
Instead, he concealed his actions, and only spoke about their validity AFTER he was arrested.
