Karl Rove: Judge's Amnesty Action Is GOP's Chance to Fund DHS (BARFER)

Shutting down the Department of Homeland Security will not help Republicans win popular support against Barack Obama's presidential overreach, but could hurt their chances of electing a Republican to the White House in 2016, Karl Rove wrote in The Wall Street Journal.

The veteran GOP strategist argued that Republican lawmakers have been right to obstruct Obama's November 2014 executive orders on immigration.

Democrats in the Senate have blocked debate on a House-passed DHS funding bill that would prohibit the department from carrying out Obama's directive. It would take 60 senators to force a vote on the bill — including six Democrats, Rove said.

While some Democrats agree that Obama overstepped his powers with his 2014 immigration order, no Democratic senator will support the bill the House sent to the Senate. That's because it "unwisely" contains riders to prohibit spending on earlier immigration decisions by Obama made in 2011 and 2012, wrote Rove.

The stalemate has also heightened tensions between House and Senate Republicans, he wrote.

In any event, Obama has promised to veto any DHS budget bill that cuts spending for his immigration policies and there are not enough votes to override.

U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen issued a preliminary injunction Monday that blocks DHS from implementing Obama's policies while a case filed by 26 states challenging the policy is in progress.

This "gives the GOP an opportunity to extract itself" from pushing ahead with the politically unpopular decision to cut off DHS funding, Rove said.

Rover’s comment is a “ruse” .. but I’m hoping Boehner will not cave also and spoil everything.

They can pass DHS WITHOUT THE IMMIGRATION PORTION .. there is no excuse for the dems to refuse to fund this .. except they see it as a way to BLAME THE REPUBS FOR THE SUPPOSED SHUT-DOWN .. WHICH IT IS NOT.

Actually, I believe DHS is funded until December ..?? Isn’t that correct ..??

Rove is a big government Bushie. I hate him. Anyone GOP a-hole that WHINES about a government “shutdown” should quit and go home.

It’s about time to shut it down big time. Stop the waste and fraud. Stop the insanity of paying illegal aliens tax credits and food stamps.

Go to hell GOPe.

Rove wants the GOP to include funding for a program that a Federal Judge has ruled unConstitutional, mmmm.

Seems to me that a “clean” bill would not include funding for an illegal program.

Why does no one speak to the depression of wages and loss of jobs due to illegal immigrants? I have never heard any Republican enunciate that very saleable talking point.

Rove, you had your fifteen min and usefulness with bush, now it's time for you to either
retire, move out of the country, or die. Take your pick, prick.

Any action should be deferred until all appeals have been exhausted. That is an entirely defensible position. Rove’s is a cave.

The federal government is shutdown. That means only federal government employees that are deemed "essential" are going in to work.

From numerous sources.. also Mark Levin spent a lot of time explaining it and citing past instances. I think almost all employees of DHS and most other departments are deemed essential!

I recall times when California state employees worked without being paid by the state.. squabbling over the budget delayed funding. No problem. In many cases the employees' banks credited their accounts knowing that the checks were coming.

The essential government employees work as usual and they too will not lose a penny -- even non-essential (absent) workers will get paid if the past is any indication.

So the disgusting, crap-mouthed pukes of both parties are lying.. as usual. f' em all.

Before the last election I posted several times..

Void the bowels of Washington, D.C. 2014

Well the election administered the stimulant for the evacuation but..

I'm broken hearted
because Washington only farted.

This is the reason why Obama has not filed an emergency appeal of the ruling.. The GOP leadership wants amnesty and will probably support such a tact. Once passed, Obama will work to get the ruling overturned. Both parties have abandoned the American worker. Time for a third party.

Go ahead and let Obama the retard Dems defend that posiiton.

The GOP-E and Tokyo Rove are scared to death of a government shutdown.

Bring it!

Seems to me supporting a “clean bill” that includes funding for obamas declaration of amnesty would be tantamount to a majority in congress supporting it and might greatly diminish the argument that he is operating outside of his constitutional authority

Rove represents the Chamber Of anti American Workers WHORES

In fact the Judge’s ruling backs up the notion that Obama has no right to make his own laws, and polling in Georgia showed enormous opposition to foreign illegal workers taking the jobs of Americans while we have low labor participation rates, high U6 UE numbers, and the highest number of people on food stamps and other government welfare programs.

Americans think the border should be closed tight and that Americans should get jobs before foreign workers whether they are legal or illegal.
