You have a great point. I think Putin is betting Europe will align with him rather than ISIS.
The ploy will be ? Since the USA won’t defend Europe from Isis Putin will come to defend them ( the pretext will be that Europe give some concessions, i.e. Poland, gas pipeline monopoly, give Russia all they want ) and be their savior, only to find out later Putin will turn on Europe and hold Europe hostage with Nukes.... Capitulation...
