Judge authorizes 'personal ruin' for Christian florist

Says state, same-sex couple can demand home, savings as damages

A judge in Washington on Wednesday authorized the “personal ruin” of a florist whose Christian faith prevented her from promoting a same-sex wedding and who was sued by both the state and the homosexual couple.

Officials with the Alliance Defending Freedom confirmed that Benton County Superior Court Judge Alex Ekstrom granted a summary judgment in the case against Barronelle Stutzman, so the case won’t proceed to trial now. It had been scheduled for March 23.

It was Ekstrom who said last month that Stutzman personally was liable for the claims against her, placing both her business assets and her home and personal savings at risk.

The judge ordered that the state and the homosexual plaintiffs, each of whom filed lawsuits, could collect damages and attorneys’ fees from Stutzman.

“The message of these rulings is unmistakable: The government will bring about your personal and professional ruin if you don’t help celebrate same-sex marriage,” said ADF Senior Counsel Kristen Waggoner.

Is there a link to donate to this Christian woman?

Sounds like that money will be funneled right to the totalitarian homosexuals.

How were these gays damaged in any financial way at all by not having a cake?

““A government that tells you what you can’t say is bad enough, but a government that tells you what you must say is terrifying,” said Waggoner.”

An incredible quote.

If a Christian cannot refuse to service a gay wedding, then a gay cannot refuse to service a Christan wedding. You can’t have it both ways.

You haven't noticed that hate crime laws are one way. They are not universal laws. I'm afraid that complying with the legal system does not get you justice. If one wants to ascend in society, then one must join a gang that sends fear through the political class.

“This country has lost its way. . . . .”

No, just Washington, California, Florida, Arizona and all
the states of the northeastern communist block. There’s
still 26 states on the ball.

Just curious how much prayer is going to the Lord for personal guidance... we are getting ridiculous reactions like this.

Ultimately, this is about a country about ready to lose its sovereignty.. . because we have not ACKNOWLEDGED God’s supreme Sovereignty. (According to Theopedia’s definition, The Sovereignty of God is the biblical teaching that all things are under God’s rule and control, and that nothing happens without His direction or permission.)

We are going down like a stack of dominoes!

The 1st amendment protects the freedom of peaceful assembly. This includes for the purpose of business and it also includes the freedom to NOT assemble. This ruling is a clear violation of the 1st amendment and is unconstitutional.

As everyone (and that florist) knows, selection of flowers for gays requires special skills, knowledge and training. The florist had never prepared such sets and was not sufficiently competent to perform the work. One cannot be sued for being unable to do what the customer requests. That's how I would explain the situation.

YES. Judeo-Christian values built Western Civilization. We are in decline as societies because we turned our backs on God.
