50 Shades of Wimpy Men: Feminism Leave Women Longing for More
BARBWIRE.com ^ | February 17, 2015 | Jonathon Moseley

Posted on 02/17/2015 6:24:27 PM PST by Moseley

Fifty Shades of Grey is about a steamy sexual relationship centered around bondage, dominance, and what fans call “discipline.” That is, the leading man’s “Red Room of Pain” includes physical abuse, whipping, electric cattle prods, hot wax, and other acts of torture. The feminists seeking to tear down traditional society by blaming all men for a mythical “rape culture” are now silent while Hollywood liberals simultaneously work hard to create one.

Following a familiar Hollywood pattern of making deviancy and perversion acceptable and attractive to society and “defining deviancy down,” the double-meaning of the word “Grey” includes the leading character “Christian Grey.” Mr. Grey – whose name “Christian” is surely no coincidence – is a handsome, wealthy billionaire playboy with expensive and fascinating recreational tastes such as soaring over the landscape in a glider. In typical Hollywood propaganda, deviancy is presented with the most handsome and appealing possible face.

Does the heroine, Anastasia Steele, fall in love with Christian’s corporate helicopter rides, glider flights, fancy cars, skyscraper office with stunning views overlooking the city, lavish apartment, glittering high-society, and the strong man exuding confidence and power? Or is it really Christian Grey’s riding crop that wins her heart? Or is the intent to associate the deviant elements of the story with the positive allure of the ideal man so that the bondage, sadism, discipline and masochism (BSDM) lifestyle will bask in the positive glow of the desirable, billionaire eligible bachelor?

Remember Richard Gere, the wealthy millionaire in Pretty Woman? To make prostitution seem positive and socially acceptable, the handsome, rich, kind-hearted venture capitalist with the exciting life is every woman’s dream man. He is reluctantly persuaded to hire the prostitute played by Julia Roberts. Richard Gere marries the call girl after renting her out on the installment plan.

Just an updated version of “The Story of O”

The Story of O was far, far darker, especially for those who read to the end. The author gave it alternate endings. In one of these, O, having been discarded by the man to whom she gave herself, asks for permission to kill herself, permission which is granted. We are not told what happens afterward in that fork of the narrative but the very fact that exists is appalling, and intended to be.

That reminds me.. The other day I saw a boy about age 10 playing outside WITH A HELMET ON. He was NOT riding a bike and there wasn’t a bike in sight. LOL!!

My grandson will use his bike helmet as an army helmet in a "time of great need" :-)

If you’re rich enough, even man-hating feminist will gladly bake you a pie and serve it to you dressed as a Japanese school girl.

Why would I want a pie dressed as a Japanese school girl?

He may be afflicted with epilepsy or some other problem which necessitates the helmet.

If you want a good laugh, read Dave Barry's piece on this stupid book...

Agreed! The idea that somehow the repulsive sadistic “hero” of 50 Shades represents a real man is absurd and disgusting. Women don’t want this guy. They want Mr. Darcy, who was a real man and a gentleman. If girls are growing up thinking that real men are bullies and torturers, then we are in real trouble.

I prefer Dave Barry’s take on that insipid, vile book: http://www.miamiherald.com/living/liv-columns-blogs/dave-barry/article1960978.html

If Barry’s account is correct, Grey and Steele tease for hundreds of pages then he FINALLY beats her once and she splits.

It’s the tease that gives it the energy to the gals. And that was why Ms. James tortured her typewriter so.

This country, under leftist dominance, is working overtime to neuter all makes. For my part I say phuck ‘em. I grew up in the country and was kicked out as often as possible so my dad, who worked swing shifts could sleep. I enjoyed a Huck Finn existence and I am better for it. I loath helicopter parents and teachers that investigate the lunches I pack for my kids. Last time a teacher tried to berate me for what I gave my kids for lunch, I told them that unless they were willing to pack and pay for my kids lunches the could STFU. Haven’t heard a peep since.

It’s porn for people who won’t admit they read porn. The writing is abysmal and juvenile, as is the story. I can’t imagine why anyone would read it.

Well it clearly isn’t for the sake of being literary.

It’s a lust generator for the women. And a very illuminating lesson about where we are.
