Anyone Remember When Communists Were the "Bad Guys"?

Wow… It’s been 56 years since Fidel Castro was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Cuba. Not unlike Obama Administration officials, the Eisenhower Administration originally felt that an olive branch and a hug might help the Soviet wannabes on the island-nation work with us capitalist pigs.

Um… Someone might have miscalculated a touch in 1959.

Fidel Castro, the Stalinist rebel who helped overthrow Batista, was a known communist… We didn’t want those kind of people working in Hollywood; but apparently we weren’t initially too opposed to them running an island. In defense of the US officials who fought for recognition of Cuba’s new leaders, a bunch of banana republics in the area already cheered on Che Guevara and Fidel – why on earth should we object to a communist revolution 90 miles off the US coast?

To be fair, there was quite a bit of concern among US officials. I mean, we were kinda being harassed by a group of commies in a third-world empire halfway across the globe… We really didn’t need a Marxist sympathizer in our backyard. But Secretary of State John Foster Dulles helped ease our fears by pointing out that Fidel wasn’t in a position to build a worker’s paradise 90 miles off of Florida’s coast… Heck, Castro wasn’t initially in charge of the government (some guy named Urrutia was “officially” in charge), how could he possibly rock the boat?

For those of you who haven’t picked up a copy of 13 Days, Dulles was a little off base. It wasn’t long before Fidel took the helm of government. Shockingly, with a communist hero running things, relations didn’t blossom between the US and Cuba. Castro was sworn in as premier in February 1959, and he immediately began “nationalizing” (socialist speak for “stealing”) American-owned properties, enterprises, and assets.

Not unlike Washington DC and the auto-industry.

Before anyone even realized what was happening, Castro had nationalized most of the island’s industry, abolished private property, and directed the government to regulate wage controls. (No, Elizabeth Warren… This is not a 2016 platform.) Aside from some crude American businessmen (translation: mafia families, industrial giants, and a handful of US Senators) who split town on the first of January 1959, everyone was caught off guard by a commie acting like – well – a commie.

Less than two years later, the US severed diplomatic relations with Cuba. Soon JFK unleashed the Bay of Pigs invasion. (Um… That also didn’t work out quite as planned.) Eventually Russia parked a few nuclear missiles on their newest satellite real-estate, and Kennedy responded by placing an embargo on the shifty little Stalinist state south of Florida.

Of course, now we are “normalizing” relations with the Castro brothers; which only really makes sense if we feel like rewarding 56 years of oppression, torture, political discrimination, and the killing of gays. (Seriously… Being gay is almost as bad as being a capitalist in Havana.)

When asked about Cuba’s refusal to release 53 political prisoners as part of Obama’s new “let’s work with communists” pact, the State Department essentially said “um… I guess we’ll look into it… If we have to.” But yeah: I’m real glad we’ve opened up to the Freedom-crushing pupils of Stalinist communism. That’s clearly a big step forward for the human condition, right?

I’m also pretty sure that in 1959, when Americans watched a Caribbean island fall to rebel forces, they never thought we’d be talking about “getting back together” with a bunch of communists who aimed nuclear missiles at our cities. Even John Dulles would probably have a little reservation about giving the Castro bros a pass on 56 years of Marxist tyranny.

Then again… It might be a nice place to play golf for our Commander in Chief. I guess everything has a trade-off.

From the fifties...today a certain golfer in chief would argue that Americans did bad things in the name of freedom and that Captain America should get off his high horse and invoke a dialogue with the commies.

Remember the TV shows from the ‘70s like The Six Million Dollar Man?

Remember whenever the Soviet agents were introduced on the episodes with thick Russian accents?

Remember how they always seemed to forget how to do their accents by the end of the episodes?

Those were the days.

Bring back the House Un-American Activities Committee

Corporare America is doing just that. Only now, the H stands for Homofascist...

Are wealthy US foundations paying to suppress religious freedom?

(Catholic News Agency ^ | 2/13/15 | Kevin J. Jones)

Questions are being raised over two U.S. foundations that have poured more than three million dollars into abortion rights, LGBT activist, and legal groups to push the message that exemptions based on religious beliefs are “un-American” and an abuse of liberty. The Arcus Foundation and the Ford Foundation have spent over $3 million in combined spending against religious liberty exemptions since 2013, according to a CNA review of tax forms and grant listings...

The Arcus Foundation's website lists a 2014 grant of $100,000 to the American Civil Liberties Foundation supporting “communications strategies to convince conservative Americans that religious exemptions are 'un-American.'” A two-year Arcus grant to the ACLU in 2013 gave $600,000 to support the ACLU's Campaign to End the Use of Religion to Discriminate. Arcus Foundation tax forms describe this as a “multi-pronged” effort to combat “the growing trend of institutions and individuals claiming exemptions from anti-discrimination laws because of religious objections.” The Arcus Foundation is a major funder of LGBT advocacy, including “gay marriage” advocacy. The foundation had almost $170 million in assets in 2013 and gave out $17 million to organizations it considers to be working for social justice...

The greatest threat to the survival of the USA is not the ragheads but obama voters and domestic marxists in DC, academia, and the press.

Especially those who voted twice for that arrogant pos.
I can forgive those who voted for him in 2008, but I will never forgive those who voted to reelect him in 2012

When the Soviet Union collapsed and the Wall came down, the domestic marxists began crawling out from under their rocks.

The DOJ since the Reagan Administration has basically left them alone, and now the ones in Congress actively and openly associate with each other out in plain sight via the Congressional Progressive Caucus (Founded 1991).

The Congressional Black Caucus (Founded 1971)was not always 100% communist but since 1991 has been close to it.

Both of these groups members are largely corrupt and have committed numerous crimes.

Thus they can be investigated, indicted, and incarcerated as soon as the DOJ and FBI is in the hands of the Right Wing (remember what the FBI did to Congress in Abscam).

A Right wing DOJ and POTUS out for revenge is what the marxists fear more than anything else, and they will work with islamic terrorists and anybody else to make sure it doesn’t happen.

Look what they did to Joe McCarthy, nothing new except that 65 years later they are at the one yard line, first and goal, and the defenders have no one left on the field.

These days, they’d probably list such un-American activities as “going to church,” “owning guns,” and “failing to ride the bus.”

And "marrying someone of the same race", "entering into a heterosexual marriage", "Opposing homosexual instruction for your 5 year old", "ridiculing the prophets Muhammad and Obama"...

They still are bad guys..not the only ones, though. Other bad guys are doing a lot of the communists’ dirty work in America.

Hear, hear. And elsewhere, I might add.

I remember when Communism was universally labeled an evil, tyrannical system and when every Communist government on earth was labeled a "dictatorship"--not just by conservatives, but very much by liberals (the Kennedys, World Book Encyclopedia, etc.).

Then in a couple of years Bobby Kennedy went from Cold War liberal to hippie and all the previously anti-Communist liberals labeled anti-Communism an inherently sinister tendency whose only object was obviously to prolong segregation and jim crow.

What happened?

I remember in the mid 60’s I was in 6th grade maybe 7th. Chicago south side, Dad worked for the steel mill. For awhile he was a grievance committeeman. He would bring home the union paper filled with b&w photos or groups of guys at meetings. I can still hear him say - see that guy - he’s a commie. see that guy - he’s a commie too. Pointing out all the commies to me. I didn’t understand what he was getting at but now I know he recognized that at that time they were starting to organize in the labor unions. God bless him RIP, 20 years now, proud WWII vet of both theaters. All 4 of my grandparents came through Ellis Island and all are rolling in their graves including my parents. They hated commies.
