One day it will be revealed that soybeans are the root of all this. I believe they also cause people to vote Democrat as well.

We’re all gonna die!

Oh noes!

So what else is new? It ain't the dieing it's the getting there.

I feel like a grumpy old man saying this: Since when did the goal of life become to live the longest no matter how miserable that makes you?

I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot. ... The function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time. - Jack London.

If you like junk food then eat it and know the consequences if you don't like it then choose to avoid it. It's not worse than genocide, Twinkie the kid has never held me at gunpoint force fed me Twinkies. Nor have a seen a bag of cheetos leap off the shelf and force themselves down the mouth of innocent person.

Sounds to me like junk food is the new tobacco.

The top killer of Americans is Heart Disease.
You're going to stop heart disease by simply controlling the diet of others? Like so many of the other topics you post, you don't know much about heart disease, or the causes.

But that won't stop you from using these junk studies to promote your nanny state ideology.

Statistically speaking doesn't something always have to be the #1 killer. Let's just renumber the list so that there is nothing higher on it than 5 and everyone will be happy./sarc

And of course trust the government to tell you what is best. Just ask the Indians.

“Food is made of chemicals. Everything is made of chemicals. Including you. I find it funny when low information people have a conniption over “chemicals”.”

I’m referring to synthetic chemicals that have NEVER occurred in the biosphere before modern chemistry. We have no clue how these brand new chemicals will affect humans and all the interdependent organisms on this planet.

“I would bet that you consume more “poison” in so called natural foods as there are in any high processed foods. I say so called because most of the foods you eat are in no way “natural”.”

Yes, not every food marketed as “natural/organic/etc” is 100% clean. That’s a problem with corruption within the food industry that needs to be a addressed. Not a problem with natural foods themselves. If you grow your own food you can still achieve nearly 100% natural with only trace contaminants. That is better than consuming foods with synthetics shown right on the label.

“Most of our foods crops have been carefully bred over thousands of years to be less annoying to our digestive system, higher in calories and better tasting. Natural foods, if you actually had a diet of them would probably leave you feeling quite ill.”

They were bred by using each plant’s natural system of reproduction over many millenia. Traits that already existed in nature were simply increased/decreased through selective breeding. There were NO man-made chemicals created or genes created (as with GMOs).

Over processed foods, ingredients that don’t belong and sauces and beverages with uncountable calories seriously mess up nutrition and health.

So you are saying that had we dropped Jumbo Jacks on Hiroshima rather than the atomic bomb we would have killed more people?

Would junk food have killed enough people that we wouldn't have needed to drop additional hamburgers on Nagasaki?

Of course not. The comparisons are silly. But that doesn’t let junk food off the hook for the negative impact it has.

Well, here is the title of the thread:

Junk Food more Deadly than War, Famine, Genocide Researchers reveal disturbing numbers

You were making the case for junk food being more deadly than war, ergo my comparison is spot on.

Would you rather be in Syria with a rifle or McDonald's with a burger right about now?

Think very hard before you answer as only one answer will not be a slap in the face of America's fighting men and women.

FWIW, my response was not to the title but to someone who defended junk food. Just because junk food should not be compared to terrorism does not mean it’s okay to eat it.

The post you responded to did not mention junk food so your response makes even less sense.

Also, your opinion on junk food means less than nothing to most anyone on FR as you are in no way a trained expert. You will know the people who care about your opinion on junk food as they will be the ones asking for it.

I don’t believe this for a second. Comparing what some people consider junk food to war, famine or genocide? Seriously?

The junk food habit is killing 40% more people than wars, famine, dictators, murderers, and politicians put-together.

It’s worse than you thought, they couldn’t get it all in the headlines...................
