Frustrated Republicans taste limits of majority control (Use Simple Majority Cowards)

It wasn't supposed to be like this for Republicans. A month into their control of both chambers of Congress, they are confronting the very real possibility of a shutdown of the Homeland Security Department later this month.

Instead of advancing a conservative agenda and showing voters they can govern, the GOP has been unable to overcome Senate Democrats' stalling tactics in a dispute over immigration. "I suppose elections have consequences except in the United States Senate," complained GOP Rep. Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina, summing up the frustration for many House Republicans. "Tell me how it would be different if Harry Reid were still running the place," he added, naming the Senate Democratic leader who was booted into the minority in November's midterm elections.

Although their party is now setting the floor schedule and calling hearings, Republicans are finding to their chagrin that important things haven't changed from when they were in the Senate minority. House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio speaks during a news conference on Capitol Hill...

Republicans are six votes short of the 60 needed to advance most legislation, and Senate rules grant numerous rights to the minority party. That means if Democrats remain united, they have the ability to block GOP bills just as they did while in the majority. Democrats have been united against House-passed legislation funding the Homeland Security Department through September, the end of the budget year, while also rolling back President Barack Obama's executive policies on immigration.

As a result Congress appears to be at a stalemate on the issue, leaving Republicans with only a few options: pass a short-term extension of current funding levels, fold and strip the immigration language opposed by Democrats from the bill, or let the Homeland Security Department run out of money when current funding expires...

"Republicans are six votes short of the 60 needed to advance most legislation, and Senate rules grant numerous rights to the minority party." Use Reid's methods and change the rules to use a simple majority. WTF? McConnell is too much of a RINO wimp to confront Democrats with their own scorch-and-burn politics. Fascism advances while our republic dies a slow death...

What did these cowards expect when they voted a turtle-look-alike in as Majority Leader? He’s just pulled his head in his shell and told everyone he can’t do anything unless he gets six more GOP seats. Harry Reid managed to get his way by changing the rules, but the incompetent Republicans won’t do that. They are worthless, but they will act surprised when they LOSE senate seats next year.

Repulicans always eventually give in for the good of the country. Democrats never give in because they always win and are willing to destroy the country to get what they want.
Shut. It. Down.

Or a late-night talk show joke.

We didn’t vote you so called Republicans in to work with the Democrats.
We put you in, because we’re tired of the Democrats.
So, do the job you were hired to do and oppose every single thing the Democrats want.
YOU’RE THE MAJORITY. ACT LIKE IT !!!!!

Can it be that with the present ‘leadership’ there truly IS no Republican Party at all?
There is actually a UNI-PARTY with a small wing that calls itself something else?

Truly, we have nothing left that resembles an OPPOSITION anymore.
Lock and load, boys and girls.

Change the D@7n rules already. At the very least, it will make Obama veto the bill. The shut down can be blamed on him, where blame belongs.

It's either that or impeachment. He completely violated the Constitution, as usual.

We need to remove this document from the Capitol. No one cares what it says. Perhaps after CW2, we can reuse it with people who do care.

I shook my head at this one:

. . . the GOP has been unable to overcome Senate Democrats' stalling tactics in a dispute over immigration, which dismisses Obama's wholesale theft of legislative powers belonging to congress, and We The People!

Article V is our only hope.

Everyone knew what would happen if Mitch McConnell was reelected. Even before the election, he *promised* to give the Democrats the power to stop the Republican agenda cold.

Why did he do this? Because he is a worthless p.o.s. He and John Boehner would prefer to claim impotence than take Viagra, because they *love* the feeling of not having sex. In “50 shades of grey” lingo, they are “submissives”, “slaves” and “worthless worms who lick boots in exchange for being flogged”. McConnell is so pale because he wears a “gimp” mask when not on the floor of the senate.

But the voters reelected those two hosers, and only a handful of Republicans stood against them.

And because these two were reelected and reappointed, this means that they and their kind will control the next RNC, and nominate another Republican liberal, while shutting out all conservative input.

Let’s face it. These two worthless worms will continue to do things this way until our nation is in ruins, bankrupt, and blood flows in our streets.

Hey, Mitch, newsflash---the rats don't like you and they never will. So, put your big-boy pants on, change the rules and ram whatever you like down their throats...again and again.

Man-up or (like Sarah says) get back in the truck.

51 votes and deem it passed. That’s what Reid would do.

The Gutless Obsequious Pussies are in bed with the Democrats. They exist to give the illusion of an opposition party. Their real purpose is to block conservatives from power.

I agree. This is what happens w/ weak leadership that is so afraid of what the presstitutes will say that they're deer in the headlights.

Ditch mitch and get someone in there that actually believes in what that were elected to do!

Tell me how it would be different if Harry Reid were still running the place,...

The filibuster rule would be eliminated. Legislation would be passed and placed on 0bama's desk for signature. That's what.

i thought budget bills only required a majority. Did mich change the rules just so that he could avoid doing the right thing?

Let the department fall apart we have to face that problem with Obama anyway and its not like they are doing their job with the money.

Rinos don’t want to turn back Obama’s illegal amnesty decree. McConnell probably does not even have a majority vote among his own team. They are with the Dems.
