#18 Culture Club: Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?Genders were being bent even back in the Eighties. I couldnt tell if Boy George was a He, a She or an It. The music was certainly catchy.

The stuff you have up tonight is from my era.
I bought a lot of them on 45 at the record shop.
(and I still have all them somewhere)

#17 Billy Joel: AllentownThe Piano Man had been one of the most important influences of the Seventies, and now he redefined his sound in the Eighties with one of the great anthems of the era. Its a glorious and beautiful song about the evaporation of the American Dream.

That would be awesome if you could join us! The more the merrier. We’ll do this one like the last. He posts his video version then I follow with my mp3/wma/m4a versions with my graphic of choice. Fun to coordinate!

In 1965, Dick Clark launched a weekday television mini-Bandstand called "Where The Action Is", filmed on location on California Beaches with guest artists like Neil Diamond and The Turtles lip-synching their hits and Paul Revere & The Raiders as the "house band". Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart (the writers of many of the Monkees hits) supplied the theme song.

I did the same until I realized at 45 to 70¢ a pop 45 RPMs were not as good a deal as the albums of 10 or 12 tunes for $1.50 or 2 bucks. I discovered a lot of music that way (more about that later - stay tuned).

#12 Adam Ant: Goody Two ShoesThis is one of those mixtures of punk and Fifties rock and roll that might have been consigned to FM stations at the far right of the dial had MTV not intervened. This turned out to be one of the great acts of the Eighties.
