When I was luck the cops didn't call the SWAT Team on me when I was their age because I would shovel snow until dark as long as there was a buck in it. Guess they were taking jobs from illegals?

The kids should have just said they work for good will but will gratefully accept college fund donations.

“GET A LIFE, COPS.”

For God’s sake the cops are being paid to enforce the laws on the books.

The lawmakers are at fault on this one, they wrote the stupid law.

The more old people they can kill off with heart attacks from shoveling snow takes them that much closer to reducing social security and medicare expenditures and boosts the death toll on climate change PR campaign.

Too bad those young men don’t live near me, or I’d hire them. Tough to find any youngsters who would shovel snow. Since I’ve lived in my house, I had only one little kid come to the door asking if he could shovel my walk and driveway. He was so small the shovel was bigger than he was. But he made the effort and I rewarded him for it. Many teens don’t want to make the effort.

Since the Mafia and all the gangbangers left the state, the cops all stand around with their hands in their pockets-nothing to do.

If the cops enforced EVERY law on the books, you couldn’t leave your house without being detained.

Let me guess the Cops dumb-@$$ brother in law Vinnie owns a lawn service / snow plowing in the winter business...

Love to see who these two officers are related too and if and how they benefit.

Yes I am that cynical...

Safer than going after the real crooks and it doesn’t hurt the cash flow.

Same law in my NJ town. It’s not on shoveling - the law prohibits ANYONE from soliciting ANYTHING door to door without a permit. It’s meant to reduce scammers, etc.

The sad thing here is - someone likely called the Police on the kids. I doubt a cop in Bound Brook (not far from me) would even realize what was happening unless they were tipped off by a cantankerous resident.

Headline writers screw with us. They weren’t stopped for shoveling, but for not having a permit for door to door soliciting.

Now, lets get upset for the real reasons: stupid law, zero tolerance, inability of police to think for themselves or willingness to think for themselves, the person who told on the kids.

When they arrest them, they should force them to undergo a urine test for drugs.

Then, when we have drug testing for welfare recipients, we can compare the stats for drug use among the welfare population with those for the snow-shoveling population.

I would imagine the comparison would be enlightening.

Police have discretion. You don't think police stop people every time they see someone jaywalking or not using a turn signal, do you?

Under these utopian idiots running most of our states and especially those in the DC government, soon we will all need a permit to breath, blow our noses or have a bowel movement. Kings used to be hung or beheaded in public for trying to shackle the citizens with such crap regulations and taxes. Way past time to bring back the gallows.
