The Supreme Court has whatever authority it chooses to assume. The Supreme Court IS the Constitution so long as its decisions are not challenged by the States or the other branches of the government. All other institutions in the United States accept the Supreme Court as the unquestionable authority on everything. This will not change.

The leftist president who can place a solid reliable majority of leftists on the Court will be the final elected President and the first total dictator. At that point the Court can begin to formally declare provisions of the Constitution to be unconstitutional or just declare the Constitution to be Superseded and the decision will be loudly protested but accepted as the Law of the Land.

It will not happen. All are too conditioned to believe that the USSC has the final final say on what the law is and what the Constitution requires or permits. The USSC is the effective total ruler of the USA.
