A North Carolina officer shot dead a 74-year-old man whose concerned family had called the police and asked to check on him.

Officer Josh Lefevers arrived at the home of James Allen just before midnight on Sunday morning and announced he was entering the residence when Allen approached him with a handgun and refused to put it down, police said.

Lefevers then shot and killed him.

Forget it. You’ll do another stick-up job, then everyone will be looking for MY car.

Just like last time.

It’s no different for you, as a citizen. If somebody has their weapon drawn on you, you don’t have to wait until you’ve been fired upon to return fire.

Huh??? I'm not going to draw on a guy who has a weapon pointed at me...Neither is a cop...

Had a minor emergency at my house recently. Thought that our toddlers had gotten into our prescription drugs (after counting pills, they didn’t). Anyways, as a caution, we got 911/MEMS rolling. Fire/Rescue showed first, then MEMS, then LRPD. I told the LRPD to stay outside on the porch and that I was not giving consent to police to come in since I wanted medics only. Kid checked out ok, and we refused ambulance transport. Doc came over and we monitored overnight. Cops said they wanted to look through the house for any dangers to the kids. I told them to get a warrant. Fire/EMT seemed amused. Cops stayed on porch and grumbled. Next: We are awaiting a doorbell ring from CPS. I’ll tell them the same thing. Get a warrant. You are NOT coming in. We can meet at my attorney’s office.

If your life is in jeopardy you shoot to kill STOP THE THREAT (by shooting until the threat stops) If your life isn't in jeopardy, you DON'T shoot.

There, fixed it for you.

I wonder what this guy did to make the cop kill him?

The officer felt his life was in danger so he fired. That's the only excuse he needs. Works every time.

No, they knew I was GFL and active in shooting on my property - legal, and they new there was a humongous Great Dane (very protective) living there. I’m 6’2” 200+lb and I could grab his front legs and stretch him out stood up on his hind legs and his paws were over my head by a good foot.

[Besides, shots I fire inside my home if intruders burst in aren’t “pot shots,” police or not - I’m hearing impaired.]

It was the old man who first pointed his gun at the EMS guy.

It was the cop who identified himself and who told the guy to stop pointing his gun gun at the EMS guy and to put the the gun down.

Interesting how the cop only opened fire when the old guy pointed the gun at him as opposed to the EMT.

My guess is the old guy was waiting to see who was coming thru his broken down door...

My guess is that the old guy couldn't see because the cop and/or EMT were shining a high intensity flashlight directly into the old guy's eyes.

Apparently good enough that they could see guns being pointed at each other...

I'm willing to bet that the lighting was good only because the cop was shining a high intensity flashlight directly into the old man's eyes so that the cop and EMT could see him, but he couldn't see them.

So, you’ll leave yourself unable to defend yourself and be at the whim of those aiming?

When your life is in jeopardy, shooting to stop is the same thing as shooting to kill.

You fixed nothing.
