AS THE Obama administration pushes to complete a nuclear accord with Iran, numerous members of Congress, former secretaries of state and officials of allied governments are expressing concern about the contours of the emerging deal. Though we have long supported negotiations with Iran as well as the interim agreement the United States and its allies struck with Tehran, we share several of those concerns and believe they deserve more debate now before negotiators present the world with a fait accompli.
The problems raised by authorities ranging from Henry Kissinger, the countrys most senior former secretary of state, to Sen. Timothy M. Kaine, Virginias junior senator, can be summed up in three points:
●First, a process that began with the goal of eliminating Irans potential to produce nuclear weapons has evolved into a plan to tolerate and temporarily restrict that capability.
●Second, in the course of the negotiations, the Obama administration has declined to counter increasingly aggressive efforts by Iran to extend its influence across the Middle East and seems ready to concede Tehran a place as a regional power at the expense of Israel and other U.S. allies.
●Finally, the Obama administration is signaling that it will seek to implement any deal it strikes with Iran including the suspension of sanctions that were originally imposed by Congress without a vote by either chamber. Instead, an accord that would have far-reaching implications for nuclear proliferation and U.S. national security would be imposed unilaterally by a president with less than two years left in his term.

OK. So Congress must DO something.
Maybe, NOW we know why obama did NOT want Netanyahu to speak before congress! He just might educate a few folks with the FACTS!
This is beyond Congress. This should be shut down by the military. As soon as possible. There are patriots in Washington, and the military. That could make it happen. I’m sure there are plans upon plans. Just hope they succeed.
Translation: Obama is so incompetent, reckless, dangerous, or even trying to cause harm to the US and allies, that even the sycophants and shills at the WP are scurrying like cockroaches to preserve what little credibility they might still have.
We are returning to 1945 with the cold war and using Containkent as a strategy. It didn’t work then, it won’t work now. Hopefully 1980 will play out again and we will get a new Reagan to fight for us.
That probably should be the conservative plank for 2016.
This doesn’t even qualify as containment. Obama seems to be making a sham day all that only pretends to restrain a rogue nation’s nuclear ambitions.
Elections have consequences...in both parties. The Republican wusses are taking on a lot of responsibility for the death of the nation.
“sham deal” Smartphone posting is an adventure.
Get a grip....this isn't Bolivia
OK, if you're opposed to the military trying to salvage what's left of our republic, then what about divine intervention? Can we at least hope for that?
That's because it won't be a treaty; it will be a "binding international agreement"!
Wait... am I missing something?
BUMP
Obama hopes Iran will tell him where they’re going to Bomb the US and when so he can be someplace else
Ordinarily, I am the most concerned for a major event in the US whenever 0bama leaves the country.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is going to be talking to Congress about that ... which is why Obama is so mad about’s Netanyahu’s invitation to speak to Congress!
+1
I wonder if the WP writers here will soon be audited?
Almost as if he wants Iran to gain supremacy. Hmmm.
