Belichick had five defensive backs on the field for that play. Belichick anticipated a passing play, while everyone else in America anticipated a run.
Belichick may actually underrated.
It may have originated with him but I’ll bet Bevell called it. That was the sort of thing that drove Viking fans absolutely bananas when he was here. The call had Darrell Bevell written all over it.
And every NFL head coach is a control freak. That’s not just limited to Carroll.
There was a very interesting discussion on Twin Cities sports radio yesterday with a former Viking assistant coach who explained why Carroll probably didn’t make the call when he said he did. By the time the assistant in charge of down and distance relays situation to the OC for the play, and the positional coaches get the right players on the field, insisting on a pass would have meant the Seahawks would have had to use their time out before the play. It made sense.
That, and Pete Carroll’s a 9-11 truther. Let’s just say I don’t put a lot of stock in his claims in general.
And there is the center of gravity for this down. Belichick opted not to call a time out. If he had I'm sure the Seahawk's coaches brain fart would have cleared and the logical running play would have been called.
I think you’re right.
all clear on the snow. Until the next one hits in 4 days.
Those streets in Boston must be pretty narrow. aint no place to put the new snow. Glad I am dealing with CT winter and not real winter.
I reached the end of the internet ... this happened once before, as I recall. It’s a letdown.
The last page has to do with the
Alexi Ogando signing by the BoSox.
