Scott Walker Leads GOP Race In Latest Iowa Poll
International Business Times ^ | 01/31/2015 | Luke Villapaz

A year out from the Iowa caucuses, potential presidential candidate and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has taken the lead among Republicans, an Iowa Poll published Saturday indicates. With 15 percent support, Walker leads a number of other potential candidates for the Republican ticket, including Rand Paul, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush, the Des Moines Register reported.

Walker is the No. 2 candidate among potential caucus attendees who support an establishment candidate as well as those who prefer one who is anti-establishment, the Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa poll indicated.

Following close behind, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky came in with 14 percent. And 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney, who bowed out of the race before the poll was released, held 13 percent. "After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, I’ve decided it is best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity to become our next nominee," Romney said Friday.

Without Romney in the race, the candidates below him picked up a few more points, including Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and Fox News host, who picked up 3 percent.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie also picked up a couple of points, bringing him to a tie with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

While Walker is still behind at the national level, the presidential hopeful has been making gains, holding 11 percent, according to Public Policy Polling. It’s the first time he’s registered at double digits, the firm said.

That is it Windy. Cruz and Sarah are the only real Conservatives left. I was all in for West until I found out he voted for that Nazi Germany NDAA indefinite detention of American citizens, (No legal rep....no trial....no due process....no nothing!!!! Picked up here on American soil by our own Military and incarcerated for as long as the Feds want IF you are accused of ‘terrorism’ and remember Joe Biden called the Tea Party terrorists!!), crap. No true Conservative could possibly support the NDAA. Sarah and Ted......that is about all we have left.

Cruz and Sarah are the only real Conservatives left.

My gut is never wrong on things of such magnitude, and that's what it tells me. Been telling me that for some time, in fact.

Folks need to come to grips with the true state of the union, and realize that in such a time as this, we must choose leaders whose DNA harkens back to that of the Framers.

There is no margin for error. The next President will lead us to final ruin, or up and out of the death spiral we're currently in. No mere politician is going to get us where we need to be. Only a true visionary can do that, and I see only one who's signalling that they're running right now.

And what’s with this ‘manager’ bit?

Don't redact the rest of my comment:

"He's a great manager, and obviously has stones. I commend him for what he did in standing up to the unions in his state, but he just doesn't impress me as the sort of historic champion that this crossroads in history demands."

The rest of your comment wasn’t referenced because it doesn’t matter. If anything, it simply reinforces what I pointed out.

The lack of your own faith in the abilities of Cruz to defeat his opponents shows.

I beg to differ. The balance of my comment contains the very heart of my reasoning for choosing Ted Cruz over Scott Walker. It's because of that reasoning, that you redacted that portion of what I said. It's airtight, and cannot be denied.

As I said before, I don't dislike Scott Walker, and do commend him for the positive things he's done for his state. He's just not made of the sort of stuff that is required of the man who will succeed Obama The Destroyer of Worlds in the White House in 2016.

For that, we need a person with the visionary type of mind and the kind of backbone that was possessed by the Framers. There is only one person in the running who meets that description, and that is Ted Cruz.

Unfortunately whoever ends up running will be dependent on the monies backing each one...for the most part.

Those in Romney’s court have all transferred over to Jeb Bush....and that’s going to be a great disappointment if he even gets close to a win. If Jeb gets it then we know it’s already been set....which it likely is anyway...but I can dream....

Jimmy Carter was a Governor.

So was GW Bush who hailed as a ‘Conservative’ in the GOP.

Being a Governor is irrelevant if it means there is no vision that resonates with the People.

Cruz has plenty of experience in government. And he will wipe the floor with anyone that debates him.

Cruz comes first; Walker comes later.

Watch and learn. The leftist New York Press will censor Cruz every chance they get while reporting what other leftists and RINOs say about him, like he’s a “bomb thrower” or an “extremist”.

Seriously, giving Ted face time is something they dread. They are scared of his smarts and appeal.

For example, look how he wipes the floor with CNN’s Candy Crowley.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxPnjgU1Q68

CNN and other leftist organs have set every gotcha trap imaginable for Ted Cruz and he always turns their traps back on them making them snarl and shriek at the sunlight he brings down on them. And Cruz does it politely with class.

They hate him, they fear him. Their strategy now is to treat him as if he does not exist.

Won’t work.

The only candidate I would never vote for dropped out a few days ago.

So, you would vote for Jeb Bush? Does the name Terri Schiavo ring a bell?

Thing that I worry about with Walker is that he quit school in (IIRC) his sophomore year.

What of it? Schrewall is not all it's cracked up to be! Some are too smart to waste time there. Walker, it would seem, is one of those.

The lunatic left loves to jump on this type of thing.

The MSM will jump all over whomever is our nominee. Get over it!

What 15% means is that Walker has been in the news a bit more than the others over the past week. Run the same poll next week and you’ll get someone else. Run it a week later, a third person.

Now if Walker or anyone else was in the 30s at this point, that might be newsworthy, but 15% MEANS NOTHING...it’s virtually the margin of error.

Not worth even paying attention to.

I agree with both of you. Walker is my choice among what is currently being offered.

My point, which your responses seem to support, is that the left may well latch onto this and attempt to make that-"he's a quitter"- the issue.

I wouldn’t expect any left wing media to cover Cruz....but when they do he’ll be heard exactly how he wants to be heard.

Cruz knows all to well what the media is and about. We all saw them knock out candidates in the last two elections....soooooo...I would expect Cruz has something up his sleeve to offset that....give it time...we shall see.

Well if the good Lord is propelling Cruz towards the helm of the country, by all means may he be blessed to that post. He is a very conscientious man towards God compared with most of the rest of our gaggle of venal politicians.

It is God that puts aces up our sleeves, so to speak, even when we didn’t think any were there.

And it’s really hypocritical of liberals, who believe in all kinds of different life paths, to suddenly get all Grundyishly moralistic here. This is a good opportunity to show that no, conservatism isn’t some fashion and it doesn’t mean an infallible history either.

But it's still to early for me to back any candidate; I'm going to wait and watch and choose wisely.

I completely agree. I like both Walker and Cruz. We would do well with either, IMO.

I'll admit, would be a blast to watch Cruz in a debate with Hillary! I do believe he's crazy smart and cool as a cucumber in a debate setting!
