Jeb Bush’s secret weapon in his potential White House bid is his wife of 40 years, Columba Bush, supporters of the former Florida governor say.
Columba, who would be the nation’s first Hispanic first lady if her husband wins the presidency, largely eschewed the public spotlight in Florida and is known for having a shy public demeanor.

Why is it so special that they learned Spanish? Columba is still frumpy and looks like she could be frightened by a glass of water-not a 1st lady I want. Here in S/W Texas, ranchers and business owners of all ethnicities speak Spanish to do business with Mexican tourists and livestock buyers-it is not a big deal. Considering the number of Cuban Americans in Florida, I’m pretty sure that plenty of people speak Spanish there, too.
English is my first/primary language, but I learned Spanish at home as a child-as a second language, and I speak it without a gringo accent. If you are going to learn a second language, learn it right-Jeb’s Spanish is awful-I hope what’s-her-name taught the kids to speak it correctly.
I don’t care if he and his whole family speak French, Russian and Klingon like natives, Jeb Bush is still a RINO-and I’m certainly not the only person of Latino ancestry who thinks so, or that his insipid wife is no “asset”...

It was no different when it was all Spanish territory-they just called them Kings instead of caudillos and dictators-an awful lot of our ancestors left Spain and then Mexico to get away from that-they figured the wilderness that was Texas and NM was better...
