My wife and I received .22 revolvers at Christmas from our son-in-law (hers, a .22LR to shoo the coyotes when she’s in the yard, mine, a .22 Mag to add to my arsenal). Fortunately, he also gave us some ammo, because finding any .22 rounds in these parts is turning into an Easter egg hunt. Even more fortunately, he runs a gun counter at a pawn shop, so he can find things in his ‘network’ that you won’t find retail.
Last month I bought several full bricks at Bass Pro and Cabela’s for around $28 each after sales tax. Just got to be there at the right time.
Just a 100 mile drive down highway 12 from the CCI plant in Lewiston, ID. Their distributer may be keeping costs down by having it shipped direct from the plant.
In November and December of last year availability seemed to loosen up and prices seemed to drop a little but since Christmas supply has dried up again and the prices are back up.
Gander Mountain had 500 ct. bricks for $29.00 two weeks ago. The supply lasted 5 days in the store.
Right and if you were to walk into any sporting goods store and they had 22 ammo at $21.00 a box of 525 and you were only allowed 1 box per customer and your wife or GF were with you you wouldn’t do the obvious?
In fact I am going to make my rounds today 2 Walmarts 1 new Field and Stream store opened 8 months ago a Cabela’s next door and 3 local gun dealers on the way.
Wish me luck.
You just don’t get it...if all the panic buyers stopped there would be no shortages and gouging...
I’m sure he wants to sell them. Ruger made him buy a lot for a small store just to get a decent price. Walmart pays a lot less. I think his plans are to hold them till the prices come up again. With .22 ammo unavailable locally nobody is buying one. I guess it’s like buying a gas guzzler, your best time to buy is when gas is high.
Thanks for the information.
I was gonna buy some 22LR online today — until I found out that shipping was $20 on a $60 order.
Sheesh
Yeah, that’s how they’re making their profit, hitting you at the back end with an absurd shipping charge. A lot of eBay sellers do that, too. They bait you in with a really good price, then charge more in shipping that the product costs.
22lr is non-existent. I hit every walmart and academy I proximate with. nope.
I am not paying 45 bucks for 500 rds.
If it isn’t CCI mini-mags I’m not interested.
Remington and the like are crap.
If your buying up Remington, more power to you.
I can get 7.62x39 cheap now.
Not that I would have any reason to buy any
Try getting a shipping quote yourself, as shipper. Rarely can I ship USPS Parcel Select packages for less than $12 now, no matter how light. Any weight at all and it's up in the $20s. But if you're a Chinese company you get shipping subsidized by the government and it's essentially free.
I try to order within the continental US if I need it fairly quick, but it’s all made in China, anyway. You’re right about the Chinese shipping, though - it’s usually free. The drawback is, it takes a month to receive your items.
WTF? Was your response intended for someone else?
Nah, just me bashing ammo with the Remington label.
Nothing personal. Sorry
