California health officials on Wednesday declared electronic cigarettes a health threat that should be strictly regulated like tobacco products, joining other states and health advocates across the U.S. in pushing back against the fast-growing device.
The California Department of Public Health report says e-cigarettes emit cancer-causing chemicals and get users hooked on nicotine, although there is still more research to be done on the immediate and long-term health effects.
"Without action, it is likely that California's more than two decades of progress to prevent and reduce traditional tobacco use will erode as e-cigarettes re-normalize smoking behavior," the report says.

AIUI ... it is not nicotine that is cancer causing, but the tar(s) and residue that gets caught and built up IN the lungs
Since I use the real thing, I don’t know about e-garettes. I thought they emitted dhmo. (Dihydrogen Monoxide) Glad cali has found that it’s as evil as See Uh O 2. :>}
I thought their big selling point was that they only emit water vapor?
California Declared a Health Threat!
Nothing much new here. Next they will make taking a cra- unhealthy due to germs. Soon we will have to register how many times a day and if more than two, you have to pay a fine for excessive unhealthy contact to bodily germs. Then they will put a meter on your flush handle and wireless connect to the shi! detail to impose fines. Damn, I’m really beginning to hate this damn Moombeam state.
California set to announce next week that living is the primary cause of dying.
“Health threat” is Democrat-speak for “not taxed to our satisfaction.”
They are not even pretending to be serious about science.
Why all the grief for these electronic cigarettes?
E-cigs have resulted in getting people off of tobacco and subsequently, has caused large losses in tax “revenue”.
As is usually the case with libtards, follow the $$$.
I’ve been struggling to stay away from cig’s. I never even considered e-cig’s before and for me (speaking only for me) while I continue the process of breaking the habit, when a mood strikes for a real cig, I can take a couple puffs off the e-cig (not even inhaling) and it is enough to put the “hand-to-mouth” part of the habit at bay.
It’s all a process I suppose...
WINNER!
$$$$ tax money
From what I’ve seen, in people who are around me, it keeps them going with nicotine.
BUT ... I’m suspicious of what the Chinese are putting into their liquid that they ship over here!
As for me, I don’t smoke (either one) and have never smoked. I end up choking if someone is smoking even in the same house, not in just the same room. I personally don’t want people who smoke around me ... just voicing my opinion about it ... :-) ...
I was shopping at Wal Mart the other day, and fumes from a e-cigarette flows up my nose. I almost puked. I see far more people smoking these e-cigs these days than regular cigarettes. Mostly because people who smoke them think it’s okay to smoke around other people with them.
Let me send a message to these people. It is not acceptable, and there’s going to be a backlash and people are going to outlaw them in public places.
They also emit nicotine vapour — as do regular cigarettes. The difference is e-cigarettes emit no products of combustion (as there is no combustion involved; while smoking tobacco emits up to 4,000 toxins.
E-cigarettes ingredients include: Propylene Glycol and/or Glycerin, and flavor. All of those ingredients are also vapourized (not burned) — and the FDA has rated them as generally safe for use in food, cosmetics and medicines.
This is just another instance of propaganda, in the service of the totalitarian nanny-staters’ agenda.
;^)
I have been more than 140 days without a smoke. And I could not have done it without E-cigs.
California can bite me!
” published Wednesday as a letter in the New England Journal of Medicine...
Some tank system e-cigarettes let users turn up the voltage to increase the heat ...
They measured formaldehyde hemiacetal a compound created during the vaping process that under certain conditions can release formaldehyde in the liquid portion of the vapor.
At low voltage the chemical was not detected. But at the high voltage setting, levels of that compound were five to 15 times greater than the amount of formaldehyde users would get from traditional cigarettes...
They use the device in a manner that no one does, he said.
Using the high voltage for as long as the researchers mimicked in the study creates a burning, acrid taste called a dry puff that would cause users to adjust the e-cigarette, Conley said.
What the researchers did is like leaving a steak on a grill all day many cancer-causing substances might be formed but no one would eat such charred meat, he said.”
You almost puked from what?
