Seventy years ago, British, Soviet and American forces were unprepared for the atrocities they encountered when they liberated the Nazi concentration camps. Combat and newsreel cameramen recorded these harrowing discoveries at camps that included Bergen-Belsen, Dachau and Auschwitz.
In April 1945, the footage was to be turned into a film, "German Concentration Camps Factual Survey," and was supposed to be screened in Germany after the collapse of the Third Reich.

"Once I watched 'German Concentration Camps Factual Survey,' I knew we could make something both different and importantly powerful."

Something like this film was shown at the Nuremburg war crimes trial, mostly a compilation of film clips the Germans made documenting their own atrocities. When the lights went up in the Courtroom at the end of the film, there was nothing but a stunned silence. The proceedings closed for the day with the defendants led back to their cells. Most of them were very silent and pensive, as the reality of their crimes and fate finally sunk in.
Read Judges 2:10-15. As the generation of the Holocaust exits the stage, it is important that we never forget. And while I am glad the efforts are being made to never forget the Holocaust, there are so many other valuable lessons from that troubled time that have already been forgotten.
We are already seeing a return to the antisemitism that led to the Holocaust. Jews are being attacked in Europe. There is a growing acceptance of antisemitism in things like rap music.
What amazes me is how the western allies let so many Nazi leaders off the hook. Sure, the trial at Nuremberg resulted in a number of executions.
But many of the Nazi murderers just below those at the top got, say, 20 years, then they were released after 2 years due to "poor health". They then lived on for 10 or 20 years more. It's actually disgusting, and an insult to the victims.

General Eisenhower called for Hollywood cinematographers to report to the camps that were found to document what went on to make sure no one in the future could deny what happened.
The film isn’t for the squeamish. Be warned.

The priorities of the world are always shifting, usually against Israel and the Jews. Hold on to whatever evidence you have of the Holocaust because there are organizations out to question, deny, and delete the existence of anything called "The Holocaust."
Unfortunately, the Bible warns us that this WILL happen again and it will be worse. Jeremiah calls it "Jacob's Trouble" (Jer 30:7). Daniel describes this soon-coming day like this:
there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time (Dan 12:1).
According to the Book of Revelation and other biblical prophecies, at some point in the not-too-distant future (I think it will be a few decades from now - probably sometime in the last half of this century), the whole world will turn against Israel and will kill two-thirds of what's left of the Jews in Israel. (The world is already showing this turn against the Jews.)
One-third of the Jews in Israel, those who have accepted Jesus as their Messiah, will escape as Daniel goes on to say
at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book (id).
Jesus is coming soon to take His own out of here before all this comes crashing down. As the Bible says, NOW is the time for salvation. Everyone, including the Jews need to come to Jesus NOW to be spared from this truly frightening and terrible day that is also coming soon.

While they are condemning others for the massacre, all the time they are wishing it was they who did the killing.

Hubby got a deal for HBO 1.99 a month. He told me a movie called Night Will Fall was one he had watched one night. I have been gearing myself up to watch it. I watched it last night.
I didn’t know how USA and Britain told them it wasn’t time for a documentary like this right after they liberated the camps. It was a time for healing not this film.
I knew they had human hair and teeth and other items they kept. Yet seeing the vast quantities at the one camp was....I have no words.
I have been to the Holocaust Memorial Museum in DC.
I also took a few days to decide whether to go or not. I am glad I did.
History does repeat itself doesn’t it!
