On December 14, 2011 Barack Obama delivered a speech to soldiers at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, on how the Iraq War was over:

“It’s harder to end a war than to begin one… We’re leaving behind a sovereign, stable and self reliant Iraq.

And with that Barack Obama pulled all US troops from Iraq despite the advice from top military leaders.

Fast forward three years…
Today Barack Obama sent 1,000 US paratroopers from Fort Bragg back to Iraq as part of the Operation Inherent Resolve mission.
The place is a mess.

The mission is clear: prevent a complete collapse prior to January 21, 2017.

And today, every jackass Democrat is going to stand up in a public place and say, “I am stupid. I got all condescending and self-righteous over Bush and Iraq, and it turns out I’m just an idiot.”

“I know more about foreign policy than my foreign policy advisors, I know more about healthcare than my healthcare advisors, I know more about employing military forces than all the Generals and the Admirals....” Wait...what am I saying? /s

What’s their agenda? Is it to protect Saudi Arabia or to thwart terrorism?

Well I hope there are no ‘cowardly snipers’ among that 1000.

To ensure Iran's takeover of Iraq.

I told my wife last night that no democrat voter will ever admit he was wrong. There could be video of him having sex with a dog and they’d say “Well, that’s between him and hid wife, er, dog.”

The people of Iraq needed a Saddam Hussein and will always need a Saddam Hussein. A casual acquaintance with Near Eastern history clearly indicates that Republican governments are not wanted. America must cynically accept the tyrant’s governance of Near Eastern countries. Bush’s big mistake was thinking “Democracy”(A government of clowns) could be introduced instead of replacing Hussein with a more friendly tyrant.,

The mission will be somewhat defensive

First you musts learn and believe that Iraq is no more. There are three separate countries. That territory that was Iraq and Syria and now ISIL, the Kurdish lands, and the remaining lands around and south of Baghdad are the three.

The boundaries and especially the border cities have not been firmed up. The mission of the Marines is to beef up the Kurdish forces to solidify the boundaries and insure the desired border towns/cities are firmly under Kurdish control. Especially in fact mandatory, are Mosul and Kirkuk.

It may be that the mission is the same but the control is around Baghdad. I think the mission is Kurdish related.

No one dare mention this actual fact, but it is true. The talk about eliminating ISIL is very limited, to resolving the borders..... nothing more

There is no Saudi Involvement but there can be fair degree of certainty there is no Saudi opposition. The action is in essential correcting a mistake made in 1917 when the Brits and the Frogs carved up the Ottoman Empire

I'm fascinated with watching history unfold. It's clear that there has to be an independent Kurdistan. It's the Kurds, and only the Kurds who understood the threat ISIS is and fought hard against them.

What happens to NATO member and somewhat ally Turkey? Surely they're not going to want to give up the portion of Kurdistan that's in Turkey. Add to that Turkey has not been stellar at standing up to ISIS. What happens if the Kurds bring their fight for independence into Turkey? Is NATO supposed to defend Turkey? And what happens with a truncated Turkey? Does it look at the map and see that Russia might be a better ally?

I can't believe the mess the world is...in the Middle East, in Eastern Europe, in Africa, in Afghanistan-Pakistan-India. And Yemen? It controls access to the Red Sea and puts terrorists run amuck along a very long border with Saudi Arabia. Mygosh, what if it all explodes at once?

1000 paratroopers unleashed on the DC political class would be more effective.

Bush’s big mistake was thinking “Democracy”(A government of clowns) could be introduced instead of replacing Hussein with a more friendly tyrant.,

It doesn't take a genius to have understood that from day one.

Bush was no genius.

Maybe Obama could replace Saddam in 2017, he's already got the "Hussein" and tyrant part down.

Clever - since they’re paratroopers, he’ll probably claim they’re technically not boots on the ground until they jump......
