Blizzard 2015 photos: NYC grocery stores cleaned out as Northeast prepares for snow storm

Grocery stores in New York City and around the Northeast are being overrun and cleaned out as customers brace for a "potentially historic" snow storm set to bury the region.

Shoppers tweeted photos from checkout lines at stores throughout the Northeast using the hashtags #blizzardof2015 and #Snowmageddon2015:

..and here's proof! @WholeFoods more like wholezoo. #blizzardof2015 pic.twitter.com/XoixguYZrv — Teresa Priolo (@Fox5Teresa) January 25, 2015

I dunno why people insist on buying bread and milk before a major weather event. Milk is perishable (except for canned milk) and bread is just bad for you.

They’re blowing right past the olives! What are they nuts? If it was end of days, that’d be gone too!

You compare Hurricane Sandy with a snowstorm

They could be cut off from the olive/antipasta bar at Whole Foods for days! Oh, the humanity!

Funny thing...my wife went our for her usual grocery run on Saturday here in Red Hampshire, and said it was about as dead as she has ever seen it.

Please define blizzard. Here in Denver, in 2007 we got 4 feet one week and 3.5 feet the next week. Slowed us down the day after the snow storm. Highways were open the next day and by two days later most of the side streets were clear. Most people just stayed home for a day or two.

Yes, we called those snow storms ... not blizzards.

Calling it a blizzard makes it more newsworthy. Just plain "snow storm" sounds boring.

Hey, they had to find a way to get deflated footballs off the front pages.

"They’re blowing right past the olives! What are they nuts? If it was end of days, that’d be gone too!"

My plan for the commencement of the #inveitablezombipocalypse® is to do a mutli-store #Flashbuy (Charge into the local stores and maxout my creditcards) of Olives, A-1 Sauce and Sweet Baby Ray's

And once the dust settles all the suckers who hoarded Gold will be bowing before me as I become King of the World!

I could see Biden showing up at one of these grocery stores and mentioning how clean they are...

Toilet paper is the item I don't get. Do most people have only one roll in the house at any given time? I buy multi-packs. Right now I have a pack of 20. Should last me 5 months.
