With their gutter sniping failing to stop Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s planned March speech before Congress, White House aides are unloading their full arsenal of bile.
“He spat in our face publicly, and that’s no way to behave,” one Obama aide told an Israeli newspaper. “Netanyahu ought to remember that President Obama has a year and a half left to his presidency, and that there will be a price.”
It is pointless to say petty threats do not become the Oval Office. Trying to instruct this White House on manners recalls what Mark Twain said about trying to teach a pig to sing: It wastes your time and annoys the pig.
Still, the fury is telling. It reminds, as if we could forget, that everything is always about Obama. How dare Israel be more concerned with the existential threat of Iranian nukes than with Obama’s feelings? And what do members of Congress think they are, a separate branch of government or something?
Yes, the presidency deserves respect, even when the president doesn’t. Although Obama routinely ignores lawmakers and their role in our constitutional system of checks and balances, there is an argument afoot that Congress should have taken the high road and consulted him before inviting Netanyahu.
The argument has a point — but not a compelling one. To give Obama veto power over the visit would be to put protocol and his pride before the most important issue in the world.

John Boehner invited Netanyahu to speak to Congress because he wanted to expose the fact that Iran has been building long-range missiles that could hit the U.S. — something Congress needs to know.
However, the brouhaha about Netanyahu’s invitation has also exposed something else — that Netanyahu has the power to drive Obama crazy, so full of rage is he about Israel’s prime minister.
It has also exposed the fact that Jewish-American Democrats like Dianne Feinstein also hate Israel to the extent that they have taken the side of Obama against Netanyahu.
Netanyahu’s speech will not take place for more than a month. What additional signs of madness and stark raving hatred for Israel will Obama and Jewish-American liberals exhibit during that time?
This PoS President doesn’t deserve any respect. The only thing he deserves is a boot up his a$$ and send him and his family out of this country. He is nothing more than a slimy pig that doesn’t deserve to be a citizen of this great Christian nation established to keep dictator want-to-bes out of here.
No-win situation for Jews.
Support Israel and be accused of disloyalty to America, support Obama and be accused of disloyalty to Jews in Israel.
In many cases, it’s the same people who will criticize either way.
No real American would confuse supporting Obama vs. supporting America.
Jews should support those trying to prevent them from being wiped off the planet. That doesn’t include the current person sitting in the White House.
I’m shocked at all the Israel-bashing in the press from the political left. They do remember what Hitler did to them? That’s nothing compared to what ISIS has in store.
Supporting Obama is essentially racial holocaust suicide for American Jews.
Jews are mostly not convinced that Republicans are any less Jew-haters than Democrats, but they already have a seat at the Democrat table. Besides, Jews no more vote on the basis of foreign policy toward Israel than Americans of German descent vote on the basis of foreign policy toward Germany. We need more liberal Republicans? Really?
Insecure Jews will always see conservatism as a mere political expression of traditional Christianity, which hasn’t been particularly friendly to Jews.
