Arizona State University (ASU) is offering a course on “the problem of whiteness,” which is being taught by a white professor.

The course, ENG 401: “Studies in American Literature/Culture: U.S. Race Theory & the Problem of Whiteness,” is being offered this spring at ASU’s Tempe campus. The course is being taught by Lee Bebout, an assistant professor of English at ASU. His faculty page lists critical race theory as one of his research interests.

Would any US college/university ever offer a class addressing the “problem of Blackness” or the “problem of Islam?”

O, we’ve come so far. To gauge just how far they’ve taken us, try to imagine a “problem with blackness” class.

I find it hard to believe that people still pay their kids way to college.

Ah, well. A fool and his money.

It will eventually lead to “what do we do to solve the white people problem?" I'm sure train schedules are part of the final solution.

The major problem with “whiteness” is a disease called RESPONSIBILITY.

It is a horrible disease that makes people responsible for their own actions, the situations in their lives, their futures and the fact that those infected with this disease can’t pin the blame for their failures on anyone other than themselves.

Blacks are immune to this disease. There is some type of “medicine” the government gives them to prevent them from having the disease.....responsibility.

I can easily imagine a “Problem with lack of blackness” class. In fact that is what the class they are talking about really is. Well, they can blubber all they want but I refuse to feel guilty about being descended from Norsemen.

This theory of “white privilege” needs to be aggressively countered as RACISM before it grows roots.

Its not white privilege we enjoy...it is American privilege.

I graduated from Arizona State University in 1969 because I lived in Tempe and my dad worked there. I am embarrassed by this news that my alma mater is teaching this drivel. Now there is a question about "whiteness" being a problem? Since when? By who's measure? By what group, non-whites?

Our problem in this country is not being white. Our problem is liberal university professors spewing this leftist crap out to their young mushy-minded students, in effect, indoctrinating them to their progressive liberal propaganda.

The problem is it's not just ASU. It's colleges and universities across the land.

Queer studies, black studies, womens studies, whiteness studies.

How 'bout teaching the damn kids how to read and write?

“Critical” is a code word for communist.

“the problem of whiteness,”

Is all over the media right now. One Bill C. is being convicted by the media court for sex crimes while another Bill C. is getting a pass on far worse sex crimes. Talk about "White Privilege".

At this point, the AZ legislature needs to involve itself, to end this brain cancer before it grows. The justification is easy, that it is unlawful for any government organization, or any organization receiving funding from government, to engage in the encouragement of racism and racial animosity.

It is just as offensive if the course had been called “The Negro problem”, “The Indian problem”, “The Asian (or any of the vast number of Asian peoples) problem”, “The Mexican problem”, etc.

Racism is racism.

The Democrats have traditionally supported slavery, Jim Crow laws, anti-Irish laws, anti-immigrant laws, been terribly oppressive to Indians, etc. They have ZERO moral credibility on which to base further racism against anyone.

In fact, “reparations” are due to a vast number of people, from money taken exclusively from the Democrat party. If that causes them ruinous political damage, so be it. It will serve them as a profound lesson that racism is wrong.

Again, the legislature of Arizona is Republican, and the new Governor is Republican as well. So in the spirit of Abraham Lincoln, they need to act to nip this foul racism in the bud.

Even high schools are full of these NEA union teachers who are politically liberal. Many students get to college and still don’t know how to read, write, spell, or do basic math. I’ve read an article last year that repeated pretty much the same story. Colleges are having to do remedial teaching to get the students up to speed so they can actually do the college level work. Some football athletes get out of college and can’t read, write or spell and when they don’t make the pros, they can’t even get jobs either because people were pushing them through the system just for the athletics. Passing grades in class was at the bottom of the list of priorities. College degrees and no skills or knowledge to make use good of them.
