How Japan is fighting back at Jihadi John with MEMES (Pictures)
Daily Mail ^ | UPDATED: 13:59 GMT, 24 January 2015 | By CHRIS PLEASANCE FOR MAILONLINE

Showing the familiar sight of fearful men kneeling in orange jumpsuits in the desert, the latest footage of Jihadi John caused despair across the world when it appeared this week. In the latest clip, the Islamic State enforcer demanded a $200million ransom to free Japanese men Haruna Yukawa and Kenji Goto, giving them just 72 hours to live. But as the deadline approached the Japanese public responded with a show of defiance by creating dozens of darkly comic internet memes mocking the deranged ISIS killer. In the pictures, which have been widely shared online, the masked murderer is seen using his knife to carve kebab meat, taking part in a cooking show, and holding a selfie stick. The vast majority of the posts are written in Japanese, but one in English reads: 'Tomorrow will be sad but it will pass and ISIS will still be a big joke. You can't break our spirit.'

I’m sorry, but this is pathetic.

Agreed.

The useless pieces of camel $hit have now captured and threatened Japanese. Will this wake the Japanese and the rest of the world up? of course not.

disagree - I think ridiculing the isis pigs is a win.

I suppose it could be argued whether ridicule is actually happening. To me it is. Just simple making fun of them. Although I think it should be REAL mockery.

Have the isis thug cutting up pig meat and eating it.

Have a mohammed with a young boy then pig and dog blood being poured onto them.

Get nasty. Then get even when the US is back.

On twitter it was very very fun for awhile to make fun of them and I do think it angered them.

I’m sorry, but this is pathetic. No more useful or effective than Michelle Obama’s anti-Boko Haram hashtag campaign.

Baby steps. We started out by mocking Hitler, too.

Jihadists don’t give crap one about memes and pop culture.

Not at all true, remember Paris? They are very sensitive to any insult. A line from Heinlien comes to mind: “When dealing with some people it is necessary to continue to step on their toes until THEY apologize.”

Appeasement has not worked, confrontation has a much better chance. It certainly would not help to give them money, this would just encourage more kidnappings.

I can see the humor in this, but this is just as meaningful as the “Bring back our girls” hashtag. This shows that western nations, and those allied to western ideals like Japan, have lost the real will to survive and thrive.

If Japan wants to show its “spirit will not be broken” it would raise an army, equip it, send it to ISIS territory and beat the crap out of every male aged between 15 to 55 they meet. That’s what Japan would have done a century ago. But no, all the Japanese want are video games, stupid game shows, sugar coated girl pop bands, and online porn.

Japan should send in 100 ninjas.

Might have already done.

Background on the two Japanese hostages: One was a freelance journalist. The other was the head of a private security firm who went to Syria to try to find the first one.

The slain hostage was the security guy.

Be careful what you post on the web. Neither Japanese hostage was a Jihadi.

“Interesting that this message is delivered in English...”

Yeah, English, now the universal language for terrorists. This also implies that they recorded the message BEFORE the other Japanese man was beheaded. They always knew Japan wouldn’t pay up.

Part of me - and I know this is wrong - wishes we would just carpet bomb all the cities ISIS has taken. I imagine fleets of B-52s dropping massive payloads would have a wonderful effect on ISIS’ world view.

The target isn’t the Jihadis, the target are their potential recruits. Take the cool away from ISIS and turn it into a joke to dry up their recruiting.
