It’s a trick headline. It’s what he said, but he meant it in a tricky way: It disappears from our consciousness because it becomes part of us, but it doesn’t cease to exist.
It’s sort of like brilliant concepts that become part of our thinking, to the point where the originator no longer gets the credit for them.
