Just “Why?”, is my response. They already have myriad varieties of handguns. And then why a single stack?
LOL!! Good one!
Double stacks, for obvious reasons, are wider than their single-stack counterparts. For deep concealment this is a concern. And yes, daily activity in a low-threat environment warrants deep concealment when people become likely to notice thru familiarity & proximity, and noticing can be...problematic.
I’ve handled the G42. It’s _substantially_ smaller than the G26. I’d rather have a G43 and a G19 (for more...social...occasions).
Ive spent a couple decades trying to really like carrying the double stack G26, but its just too thick for daily IWB carry.

Carry IWB a Ruger GP-100 4” for three decades and the G26 is hardly noticed, plus 5 more rounds.....
Yes, I understand the compromise. Perhaps it is simply better to use the single stack with at least one extra mag. My wife bought a 380 without my input. I am still trying to warm up to it. The pull to input the barrel round is far more than I thought it would be, and would be tough for my wife. Plus, since such a short barrel, the noise is deafening, which although, may be good in defensive use situation. ;-)
