Protesters invoking Michael Brown and Ferguson burst into an auditorium at Harris-Stowe State University early Monday afternoon and briefly shut down a Martin Luther King Day celebration.
The protesters and Harris-Stowe students later confronted one another outside the venue, as police converged on the area.
Shortly before 1 p.m., as the King observance was in progress in the crowded auditorium, about two-dozen protesters came in waving an upside-down American flag and chanting "No Justice, No Peace."
They took the stage, and as the crowd began filing out angrily, they used a microphone to accuse the university and the clergy who were in attendance of being part of the "establishment."
Protesters left the stage and left the building after Brown's mother, Lesley McSpadden, appealed for calm. But later, the protesters and Harris-Stowe students confronted each other about the disrupted event.
"They came in here (being) so very disrespectful,” said Harris-Stowe freshman Shaquell Humphries, 18. "There are old folks and little kids in that auditorium and they (the protesters) started cussing.”
The King ceremony later resumed.

MLKs “Dream” might really die, because so many ignorant people are encouraged to only see skin color, and not character.
It doesn't help that the media/politicians/idiots always seem to gravitate towards the most cliched of negative stereotypes of any race/religion/sex etc “community” when they start sticking mics in front of peoples faces in any situation!
As if I have everything in common with a low class white trash, meth head, ex-con, welfare queen, single mother, simply because we are both visually identifiable as white and female.

This is a typical case of the far, far left coming in and trying to scare off the moderate left. As my son in Special Forces pointed out the Marxist/Leninist/Stalinist/Putinist goal is to protest true injustice to the point that efforts for positive change fail, the dispossessed become more frustrated, the revolution takes over, and the DICTATORSHIP of the proletariat becomes fact. Apparently large chunks of money were put into the Ferguson efforts, from where?? Why did they pick a man who was visibly shown to be an overgrown bully to be their hero/victim? There is something funny going on here and it is interesting that it coincides with Putin’s Crimea grab, and the proxy war in the Ukraine. Shooting themselves in the foot? For some feet, part of THE PLAN. There is and has long been a subtle and not so subtle struggle between the left that wants justice, and the left that wants chaos. It has picked up since Putin.
The street and highway blocking is annoying, but really, this one’s where I permanently say “nuts on this noise”. No, you guys don’t actually give a crap about black lives, because if you did, you wouldn’t be harassing a MLK Day memorial service on a historically-black college campus, you morons. If this ever happens again, particularly at a HBCU, and the cops and the students look at each other, look at the protesters, look back at each other and go “you hold ‘em, we’ll beat ‘em”...I’m just saying.
See my Comment #58 for a precise description of exactly what is going on and why. My parents saw it in the ‘30s, I saw it in the 60’s and my son is seeing it now. Take a group of serious people trying to make things better for poor, send in a communist to steal their treasury, send in thugs and trash talkers to chase out the elderly and middle class blacks, stir up genuine punks to loot and steal. That’s how it works and has worked for decades. Remember a lot of decent people to the left distrust big government and big money just as much as FReepers and tea party do. But it is all a great excuse for more non judicial spying by govt. agencies. Time to unite to put down the World Government Dictatorship of the Rich, and the Communist so-called Dictatorship of the Proletariat. Remember, the key word is and always will be DICTATORSHIP.
