Could we get a translation on that? I have read it three times and have no idea of what it means.
It seems that college now is simply a way to gain admission to the club. A huge percentage of the jobs requiring a degree now are the sort that would in the past have been done by a high school graduate or a dropout. Recent college graduates have nowhere near what used to be high school level competency in english, history, civics, geography or literature and very few have the writing skills to even get INTO a PUBLIC high school as they existed in South Carolina in the fifties or early sixties.
I don’t know what to make of the way that math is being taught now but I know that I have met people who need a calculator to figure out what percentage discount would reduce the price of an item from one hundred dollars to eighty dollars and some don’t seem to even know how to find the answer WITH a calculator.
